Err...was that wise?
I'm sure I'm being over-cautious, but these things are so dangerous. As I've never had an Account with Halifax, it smelt a bit iffy to me. Please be careful.

Only by me, whom it totally whooshed, everyone else got it I think.....neverends.
I'm VERY tired & grumpy today, though luckily, nobody has noticed.

The big "this is a fraud site" warning that popped up when I clicked the link gave it away for me.

I keep on getting loads of those emails - Halifax, Egg and Nationwide mainly - the fact that my filters put them into my spam folder as well as not having an account with them helps give the game away.

I got one from a bank (with whom I don't have an account) that needed me to confirm my security details while at the same time buy 6 cases of viagara, 3 cases of cialis, 3 penis enlargers, while winning eleventy twelve zillion pounds from the Dutch Lottery, while also confirm that I would keep hold of 6 trillion US Dollars from a rather nice lady who used to be married to the govenor of the Ivory Coast, and also agree to 4 Nigerian businessmen convert my £6.50 into £12,000,000 in 2 hours..!!!
Do you think that I should do that?

Played the lovely little £50 + £50 (one rebuy OR add-on) at Luton last wednesday, & got a dream starting table, with Jeff Buff rampant. It's such a fun comp, it's tough not to enjoy it, win or lose. And I was going for three Tourney Cashes on the Bounce, & just about managed it, salvaging £100 after Finalling & then running into heavy weather.
In Level One - ONE - (we began with 4k chips) I got up to 9k, & Jeff Buff got up to 13k, amazing stuff. But Jeff & I are always gonna butt heads, & I had to Raise it up on his BB with any two. Luckily, I found a hand, & duly made it 300, with 2 limpers already in at 25-50.
Jeff, being the crud he is, immediately says "I'm all-in. Blind". For 13k, sigh. "You really Blind, Jeff?". "Yup" says the jovial American. "OK, I call". For 9k, & we have an 18k Pot, all in Pre, in Level One.
He tables 6-4 - what an idiot!, & I'm positively HUGE with my 7-3. The entire Cardroom was abuzz, "you see those two idiots getting all-in with junk?".....I ran it through a Poker Odds Calculator later, I'm 50%, he's 42%, & we are 8% to chop. The Board came K-K-Q-9-8, chop chop. He runs so damn good.
How do these things happen? Well, I dunno, but they just do, I mused to myself.
A few hours later, in the Final, & in OK shape, I had cause to reflect ruefully on those thoughts.
I am sitting quietly, plenty of chips, doing the passive laddering thing, plenty of shorties around, this is a guaranteed top three, maybe a 4 figure win, very nice. And then, out of a clear blue sky, the bomb dropped.
With Blinds at 800-1,600, & average chips 42,000 - plenty of play here, then - UTG suddenly pushes his entire stack over the line - ALL-IN. Eh? Ah well, such is poker, no big deal. Until I look down & see the beautiful K-K. What a dream coup! CALL I bravely say. He turns over J-8, he has trips on the flop, & houses up with a card to spare, & I'm toast.
How do these things happen?
The J-8 play was as daft as it gets, but no dafter than my 7-3 affair, earlier. The game is great, but we weirdos who play it need certifying sometimes.
Thank the Lord for players like Jeff, me, & J-8 man, without us, how would you guys make a living?
