What a few days, though best draw a veil over most of it.
Finished the Show @ Midnight, bed @ 1am, up at 5, sent a bunch of messy & urgent e-Mails, then went home to Derbyshire at early o'clock to sort some stuff, back in the office @ 1pm. 6 hours driving, but I don't mind it, I get to think, to clear my head, & work through my phone calls, & I spoke to a bunch of friends.
Went to get stuck in at the office, then my computer set up unsetupped itself.
Picked up a pile of mail at home, as per. Included....
Request for "name of driver". Evidently, I got camera-snapped driving home from the airport last Wednesday, on the way home from Nice. 11.36pm, 36 in a 30. Fair enough, but still a bit cross with myself, a momentary lapse of concentration. Bugger. I got a 6 month ban about 7 or 8 years ago, & I've been very steady since, a ban don't 'arf teach you a sharp lesson.
Summons for not paying my Council Tax. Checked my bank statement, it was paid on time. Bugger off.
Letter from Sandra Dancer (?), the "Pension Centre Manager @ Pension Service". In Edinburgh.
Dear Mr Kendall,
We're writing because you're due to the State Pension age soon.
Thanks for that, I'd clean forgotten.
Its half full at the end tho Tony, all that extra kerchiing coming your way.
Did you notice that Mick Channon had his first major Classic winner in yesterdays Irish 1000gns, it is 26 years since he retired from football ( how so) Quite an amazing achievement to excel in 2 sporting arenas

I did actually.
I think it's realy something to excel at two completely different things, as Mick has. Wonderful footballer, incredible racehorse trainer.
If I recall correctly, (unlikely....) he had a very serious motor car accident a year or two back, on the way home from the Donny 2 yo Sales?
Nothing but respect for his versatility. When he spoke in that funny "twang", you'd not put him down as being anything special. Somehow can't see Andy Carroll having the nous to do something like that.

That's right re the crash Tony. It seems he is taking over Henrietta Knights string too when she retires, I am not sure if it will be in name only and someone else will look after the jumpers but he is like you, he doesn't rest much does he.

Spent some time down by the river very early Sunday morning, the peace & quiet, & tranquility, was wonderful. Sometimes the online world is a little too hostile & aggro for me, so I just like to take a break now & then.
I was there an hour or so, & came back feeling top of the world.
That houseboat across the river is called "Astoria", & is owned by Dave Gilmour, he of Pink Floyd.

There are some grand building along that part of the river, too, they just seem to sit nicely there. My photo, by the way - you can tell, I've cut a bit of the boat off.

Lol, great question Graham. I'l reply on my Diary, if you don't mind, as I have a bit of a Charlotte Jackson fixation, and I'm not sure the Betting Board is ready for my Charlotte photos.

Dear Mr Kendall,
We're writing because you're due to the State Pension age soon.
It really is disgraceful how the royal mail can lose mail that is this important for several years and then they don't even bother to apologise when it eventually shows up.
Did they make you pay the difference in postage rates for rubs too?

Talking about excelling at two sports.. I really don't think Rebecca Romero ever gets the credit she deserves.
World Champion and Olympic silver medalist for rowing.
World Champion and Olympic gold medalist for cycling.
I think that is the most phenomenal sporting achievement I can imagine.
