Absolutely loving the Olympics can't get enough of it! Wish it just went on forever.
If you go to Tikay Tips", they have in-depth coverage of the Norweigan Women's Handball Team. Pictures & everyfink.

Walking the walk.....
I hope you can take just a minute or two to read this link below.
It gives an insight into several "other worlds". People selflessly doing something really special to help others, & in the process, seeing what life is really like in less cosseted parts of the world.
"....young men carrying over 90kgs on their backs for days on end. Even worse is seeing at how young an age they are initiated. Young boys, who don't appear to be more than 12 years old, carrying baskets with water or bread on their backs… It's their way of life but that doesn’t make it any easier to watch, especially knowing how little money they actually get paid for such hard work......"
The author is Yuval Shalson, her uncle must be a very proud man indeed, & a regular blonde.

Tony, Have you ever seen the piece(s) of film called 102 minutes that changed America?
I think it something you would find fascinating

Thanks Phil.
No, I've not seen it, & yes, I will watch it.
One of my current things is to read up on all the 9/11 stuff, & I purchased 10 or 11 books on it whilst in Vegas, but have only managed to read one so far. I deliberately avoided the subject for so long, because, with time, a better perspective emerges.
A sidebar is that I had some American friends at the time, & we fell out badly over the whole thing. I had, probably unwisely, expressed a certain view about what was, whatever way you look at it, an obscene act of violence against innocent civilians, but that's another story.
Anyway, in the book I recently read, the thing that so took me aback was the bravery of some of those inside WTC1 & WTC2 on that dreadful day. By virtue of mobile phone records, the stories can be re-traced with great accuracy.
What hit me though was the incredible bravery of the NYC Fire Crews, Policemen, & Security staff.
Remember, WTC had been bombed before, & so they knew just how dangerous it might be.
The big problem was evacuation from upper floors whilst lifts - elevators - were mostly out of action.
Walking down 80 flights of stairs is quite a thing. Walking UP 80 flights of stairs, with an 80lb survival pack on your back, fully clothed in heavy firefighting clothes, fighting against the stream of those going down, trying to escape, as the Fireman did, is quite another thing, especially when many of them must have known they were walking up to almost certain death. And not one of them bottled it.
Can you ever imagine such a thing?
NB - Please - no political debate about this subject.

Having read you post I think this has to be on your must see list.
It is 102 minutes of individually shot pieces of film from different locations in New York as everything unfolded. The film maker has put them together in chronological order to portray the story in real time. The history channel have a brill function where you can pick the location you want to see the footage from here.

It is better to watch the full film in one go tho as it incredible.

London Underground maps in 3D!
http://stations.aeracode.org/
Make a selection such as "King's Cross St. Pancras"
Drag the map around, use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out (holding down Ctrl slows the zoom)
or use the drop down in the top right to move the focus to a certain point such as the "Eastern Ticket Hall"
Pretty clever stuff.

I feel exactly the same - the reason we prob love it so much is that it doesn't go on forever.

I did?
Lol, I did not think I had!
PS - it was not "rags to riches", more "got out of a big hole".
I'll need to go read it now, sounds interesting-ish, but I'm buggered if I recall writing it.

Coming soon -
"Should we push or pull our lawnmower?"
, a story in 193 parts, with photos.
It goes on for ever, then just when you think it has ended, it starts again.
