This will interest not a soul, except maybe Tom & one or two other fruitcakes, but our minds work in the most peculiar way.
Amid the obscene horror of all those children & adults killed, much of the TV footage was devoted to the rescue of several dogs from the wreckage. I guess it is a macabre variation of "Man bites dog".
And yet it did not seem in the least offensive, or out of place. I am a bit (over?) sensitive to lack of respect for those who have died, or passed on, perhaps because I am closer to the buffers than most here. (Think "
Thatcher Dead
?" which, to me, was gratutiously offensive).
I live in a little dream world, a really daft world, where I like to think that birds & animals are just as important as human beings, & I'd no sooner shoot a duck, bird or stag for fun than a human being.
Meanwhile, my favourite foods are KFC, roast lamb or beef, steak & kidney pud or pie, & pork pies.
I wonder why it is we can have such double standards, I am exactly the same. Animal cruelty gets me much angrier than person cruelty, I always feel more sorry for the dog in a dog+tramp combo. Yet I eat meat.
Ditto.
I can't really listen to the stories that pop along on the radio/TV every now and then about someone posting a hamster or throwing a cat out of a window. Makes me sick to my core. Don't get me started on this stuff.
I'll never forget George Galloway doing a radio show where he said anyone who sees a Staffordshire Bull Terrier should hit it, how they were "devil dogs" and all sorts of preposterous nonsense.
I'm pretty sure communism has killed more people than staffies. I remember seeing Paul O'Grady doing a feature at Cruft's one year about them and how they were the most loyal and friendly dogs he'd ever had. He's not what you'd call the stereotypical Staffy owner. Mind you, nor am I.
Here's a piece from this year's show on why they are so popular. Notice how no one is fending off rabid savage beasts with a stick.
So often, it is people who are the problem.

Yep
Good for you.
I'm a huge Staffy fan boy. I had a blue dog called Buster and a gorgeous brindle bitch called Cassie.
I regularly used to add a dash of Staffy to the mix when I was breeding lurchers. One of the chief benefits was to make them calmer and less unpredictable.

He's implying and you're inferring
So if he's implying and I'm inferring, what are you doing?

I love staffies, they must be the most misunderstood dogs out there. They are friendly and fun, and its just a small percentage of the morons who own them who give them a bad name.

So most of the morons who own them don't give staffies a bad name? Sure Tal loves that backhanded compliment.

Completely this.
The owner makes the dog. You'll get the odd one who is a mean spirited so and so, but it's up to the owner to install discipline in such a dog to correct their attitude. Staffies sadly have been bought by an incredible number of idiots in recent times as they are viewed as a 'hard man's dog.' These owners generally lose interest in them within a month and that's why so many Staffies are abused and abandoned. The vast majority of dogs including Staffies, which are absolutely lovely, are a true joy and fabulous companion.
