Thank you for the
"never been to Vegas, like the vids & waffle, I always wondered what it was like".
Have had, literally, scores of comments like that, via Twitter, e-Mail, text, & on here.
That is the whole idea. It's not aimed at the poker hardcore. So many folks dream of going to Vegas, to do the poker, & never get there. It's for those folks, nobody else really.
Partly commercial, too. Obv. Message is "poker is fun". Because it IS. Or at least, it should be.
Anyway, thank you.

On the long walk from room - sorry, suite - to Media Centre, I bump into scores of friends, mostly American, who I have known for years. Each morning "have a good day", "gonna be another hot one", da de da.
Today, they all, without exception said the same thing.
Weather MUCH better today, lets hope it holds for a few days.
Today's weather? Cloudy, overcast, & 15c cooler.

The view? You know that lovely view, facing the Strip?
Not that one.......
We filmed a lot more
"never been to Vegas? Check this out
" videos last night, not sure when they will get Uploaded, as we filmed so much yesterday.
We ended up in Fremont Street, with the camera, & the place was buzzing, & heaving. It was just wonderful. Not sure if the camera wll catch the mood, but it was so so good. You know that Lady singer, who I did all the photos of last year? She kissed me. On camera. So did Cupid.
We did a "light until dark" time lapse thing from the roof of the Rio (Voodoo lounge thing), showing the Strip coming to life as darkness fell.
Interviewed Antonio Esfandiari, Sam Grafton (talks more than Channing), & some other stuff, too. Lined up Barny & Pez for interviews, too.
Work-wise, got a whole bunch done, but still not managed to get back on my Blog Bike next door. So much to do, so little time.

Quote of the Day
I've mentioned repeatedly how different generations, the world of online, the insular world of poker forums & their specific tone & language, ("you are all morons") & a myriad of other things mean that it is sometimes difficult for us to understand, or agree, with what others say & do, & even more so, how they say it. But it behoves us all to try, instead of angry retorts, "over reaction itt", & exclamation marks at the end of every sentence.
Saw a perfect example today. We ALL understand it. We do.
blonde knows
.
Can you imagine this reaction at, say, Lords, Wimbledon, Henley, or the local Golf Club, on Medal day?
he came over to us before HU started and did a shoebomb! Pez obviously obligated to do so as well, maybe the first time in WSOP history two guys wonder over and down a third of a bottle of peroni out of there shoe's before playing for a bracelet and $300k -
just such such class
.
And before Mr SourPuss or Mr Angry say otherwise, that is NOT a dig. The diversity of views, & changing values, morals & etiquette, is such an interesting thing to try to come to terms with.

So the last time I went to Alton Towers my mrs wants to go on Oblivion. Now I don't dig rollercoasters one bit so I say no way, and there's a long snakey queue anyway. I suggest we go on those swans that glide gently across the lake, but she keeps nagging me to go on Oblivion, please, please, please. Naturally enough we end up at the back of the queue for Oblivion. Queued up for hours in the baking hot sun to go on this god forsaken ride. Eventually it's our turn so we jump in and get strapped into the seat. We start rolling up this steep vertical incline, clack, clack, clack. I turn round to my mrs to see the joy on her face, but no, she just bursts out crying "I don't like it" she sobs "I'm scared". I think fuck my very life.
You are about to be strapped into your seat Tony Kendal. This is what you always wanted. This is on your bucket list. There is no turning back. Life is for living. Please just enjoy the ride for heaven's sake.
Oh and rip a few new arseholes if you can.

Came back to The Rio after Fremont Street last night to go find Dubai in the Omaha.
Bumped into Channing, doing what he seems to spend so much time doing - helping others, newbies, Vegas virgins playing their first WSOP event, etc. You have no idea how many people he spends time helping. Scores of them. At least 4 different folks came to see him, some of the questions were pretty basic, but he has endless patience & manners. He marked my card on every single table in the WSOP PLO8, & spent hours geeing me up. People like him, Team Beevers, Barry Crater, do SO much for poker under the radar, they really deserve some recognition for their poker ambassadorial efforts.
Anyway........
He asks if I'd like a lttle chat about today. Do I? Much? Just a bit.
So he spends two hours talking me through his ideas on how, given my specific abilities, talents, liabilities, skills or otherwise, I might do best in the WSOP Main.
Nothing ground breaking, just the obvious, but like Paul Jackson, he says it so well, so simply. I so wish I could sit him down with John Black, I really do.
It's a deep-stacked cash game really.
It really is pretty tough to go broke on Day One.
Don't be scared to leave a bit of value on the Table. Plenty of time.
Beware of set mining with 6-6 down. Easy to go bust set under set at this stage.
Don't be scared of passing all day. Plenty of time to get jiggy later.
Settle in, enjoy.
Position, position, position.
Believe in yourself. You ARE a competent player. Experience & patience are tremendous assets.
Nothing special there really, but said with such conviction, & explained so simply.
Big thanks to a top bloke. Really.
There really are some great folks in poker.
