Somehow, in all that, I ended up on "The Poker Bastard".

Remember him? Or even her?

The author was widely rumoured to be Camel, but only a complete idiot would think that. Camel would just straight up say it. And give his name, not so so anon.

Something does not sit well with me when people slag off the world & his wife from behind the shield of anonimity. Pretty easy to do, & pretty classless, taking cheap shots but being scared to reveal your identity.

Even so, we F5'd every day, in case we got a mention. As luck would have it, I was not important enough to hit his radar.

Anyway, I'm nearly done now......hooe you did not waste as much time as I did. Interesting stuff, though, or it was to me.

Just one more stop in the journey.....

But ooooooooooh you'd be meat, drink and a rather large cream cake to the Poker Bastard if he were still active today.

He'd rip you to shreds!

So many people thought the Poker Bastard was me, it got to be quite boring.

I slagged off enough people on my own in my own name, why would I hide to slag off others?

PB did email me once to offer to publish anything I wanted to say on his blog unedited.

I turned him down.

A miscreant I am familiar with hacked PBs email account a while later (would you believe his password was "bastard"?) and he read our email exchange.

So he at least can confirm I was never the Poker Bastard!

What?

Eh?

You are familiar with miscreants?

Good Lord, I'm horrified Keith, totally shocked.

Miscreants. Tsk, tsk.

Not wrong, but he'd need to get to the back of the bloody queue. He'd be a pansy compared to some of the stuff I get, believe me.

I most certainly did! I am afraid to say I make an effort to watch any TV which includes the VC ingredient.

Which reminds me, a few pages back someone asked me to watch VC on Question Time, & I duly did. I need to find the Post now. She was on with some pompous twit, & I'm amazed she kept her cool with him. Her temprement must be very different to that of Giles.

PS - Do you know Giles, personally? I know you are quite close to Miss C.

PPS - Do you recall a guy by the name of Tony Theo, used to frequent Gutshot (your fave venue at the time) & The Vic?

If you get 5 mins.......A vid of stepping back in time Hanley, S-O-T. (does include an old PMT bus)   Cool

I remember you saying you used to visit Trentham Gardens, but not sure if you ever went into the center of the Potteries.

I hope to find some time this week to grind some UKPC sats. It certainly looks like one not to miss.

Out of time for now, so I'll just Post one hand for the moment, the rest of the Master Butchery will follow later.

We are in Level 2, I'm settled down, not shaking or anything. Got everyone sussed, yeah baby.

I'm the Button, & there are FIVE Limpers, as per.

I have.....

Time to exhibit some skillz.

I make it 400.

Everyone calls, obv.

Flop......

Ooh. Like.

Checked to me. Pot.

All fold, bar one brave soul, who tanks for a bit, maybe considering a repot, but he eventually calls.

Turn is an offsuit Jack.

Check to me. POT. He can only have spades, I'm thinking?

River......

So.....

Bugger.

He sets me in. I fold, of course, (of course?) leaving me approx 4k from my 10k at start of hand.

He kindly shows.

No wonder he never folded! Flopped nut flush draw, turned top set, rivered the flush.

So, where did we go wrong, what could we do different?

As played, I think I have to try & get him off his draws, it was sort of inevitable that I'd do a chunk. Was quite surprised he played it so passive pre though. Was really shocked when I saw his actual hand.

I suspect a chorus of "fold pre, next case" might now ensue. Can't disagree really. Guilty, with plea bargain incoming.

I just felt I could not sit there all night waiting for a hand whilst everyone was limping galore. I play 30 or 40 baby PLO8 SNG's Online every night, different thing entirely I suppose, but I can't be doing with that limping stuff. They play very shallow, of course, so I guess it's different.

So it was spin-up time now, & Beat The Clock, as I had 2 Levels to rebuild, or re-enter.

So I got my box of tricks out.

so many people in PLO bet 'pot' all the time when it's mostly not even nearly the best size.

Hi Knottikay are you from the Potteries?

I went to school in Hanley then on to high school in Birches Head. I'm knocking on a bit as I remember them building Unity house and now they've knocked it down. Strange coincidence you post this as I drove through Hanley today and whilst waiting at the lights I could see the Library and Museum. The library looks dated now but was state of the art when built. I went to school just around the corner and sometimes went there to do my homework, that's before I started doing it on the bus in the mornings. Hanley opened a new bus station last year and apparently the old station along with the land of Unity house is being regenerated into shopping and leisure complexes.

Thanks Alan.

I know Hanley, & much of Stoke & the pottery towns, quite well. I still visit Stoke regularly, I'm sort of connected there.

Trentham Gardens? Amazing place, though I preferred it before St Modwen Properties (in whom I own a goodly number of Shares) re-developed it. I gather it even has a monkey park (a what?) now.

I was involved with that gigantic Sainsbury's Distribution Centre too, on the A500 between the A50 & M6.  It has a super smooth power float floor, they need those to operate High Bay Warehouses, as the floor needs to be perfectly smooth & flat.

Hope you can bink a UKPC seat, and even if you don't, feel free to come visit, should be a great atmo, & plenty of faces there.

Rumour is that it is Jeeves.

Ooh, conky itt, I'm honoured.

I actually bet just under "pot" each time, as I was not sure what exact "pot" was, & I would have been too embarassed to ask!

I take your point, of course, which in many, but not all cases, correct.

So how would you have bet, & more importantly, why?

I watched all your Vegas videos last night, really fun.
Plans for this summer?

You did WHAT?

Crikey.

There are hundreds of them, but I'd have assumed a man of your standing would have better things to do whilst xty tabling $zillionK Zoom. I'm impressed & surprised.

Vegas plans this summer?

Tentastively, I'm awaiting the WSOP & all the other schedules to be announced. WSOP have promised them no later than the 14th February, so not long now. Once they come out, all the other ones should not be far behind.

I've no idea if Sky Poker plan to be there, or send me, they never tell me until the last minute most years, but for now, I'm assuming not.

My own plans, a little ambitious maybe, are to realise a poker dream, & go for the full 6 weeks. I'd stay somewhere a little cheaper than the Rio probably, maybe Gold Coast. I want to be able to utilise the Media Centre @ The Rio, & & Gold Coast is easily walkable. I like to do daily Blogs & stuff from Vegas, highlight of my year to be honest.

I only plan to play PLO8 Tourneys, every day, wherever & whenever, & on blank days, play PLO tourneys, or "Big O" (5 card) PLO8 Cash. Nothing else at all.

I am busting to play all the WSOP PLO8 Events if I can afford to. I've played 2 x $1,500 & 1 x $3,000, & cashed in 2 of the 3, though I did run awfully well. As soon as the schedules are out, I'll be putting up a Staking Thread. Doubt I'll play any above $3,000 though, bit rich for me.

I generally have a little group of good folks who buy my Vegas action every year, & we've turned a little profit in each the last 3 visits. So I'll offer them first dibs, & then try to sell some more via a Staking Thread. All @ no mark up, of course. They don't & won't ever get rich on my action, but I like to do daily Vegas Blogs, which are a bit left-field, to keep them updated & hopefully, entertained in return for their faith.

I have really fallen in love with PLO8. Think I've played 2,000 PLO8 SNG's in the last 3 months, just small-ball stuff, £5 & £10, & I  average about 50p profit per game, so not exactly setting the world on fire, but it has helped me construct & understand PLO8 ranges so much better, & I'm hopeful it will stand me in good stead if I get to Vegas this year. It's all very standard to me now, whereas in previous Vegas visits, I was a bit PLO8 rusty compared to now. I was generally playing 15 or 20 PLO8 SNG's (DYM's actually) Next Door every evening, but I've upped the volume this month to 40 or 50 each evening. I really enjoy them, & it has re-ignited my love of Online Poker.  Me, at my age, 6 & 7 tabling, lol, did you ever hear anything so daft? My head don't 'arf spin at times, but I manage OK.

We shall see, but fingers crossed, those are the dreams. I do mean "dreams", too, I can't tell you how fixated I am by it, obsessed even.

Will we see you next week @ UKPC? Some interesting faces lined up.
