I hope to resume my Diary very shortly. Been a bit pre-occupied the last few days, what with one thing & another.

Had a pleasant & relaxing break from what's been a really awful few days on blonde - well, nearly a week now - & went to DTD last night. Played the rebuy, played hopeless, & deservedly busted remarkably early by my standards.

Was pretty disappointed to learn that DTD have introduced Live Straddles. Not because it's a bad decision - it's a demand thing, so they are givng folks what they want, & that has to be good - but it just does not suit me to, on most occasions, sit in Live Straddle games. You know how it works, it becomes a Deep-Pocketed who has got the Biggest Dick Bingo game, costing £200 to take a flop. I just can't play that. On 6 or 7 occasions last night, it was £200 pre, so that's my DTD Dealers Choice career over.

And I'm just not sure it works in games such as Super-Stud. Badly, impossibly badly, imo.

But I suppose I'm just an oddity, but I do prefer to try & play the game with a touch of thought & apply such little ability I have to it. Paying £200 BEFORE 3rd street in Super-Stud just does not work for me, I'll never see a hand. And in Omaha, it becomes the same thing, amounts far beyond my means  to take a flop. I'm sorry, but that's just bingo to me. At those stakes - well, at ANY stakes really, I simply can't comprehend how larging up the pot to such an extent before every hand works - at least, not if we want to try & at least keep up the pretence that skill is involved.

I know it's just my personal take, & that does not make it a bad decision, just one I don't like, but I'll miss the DTD DC game very much.

Has the demand for straddles come from the holdem players or the dealers choice players or just a mixture of everybody. If you have a word with Mother Hen he might adjust the straddles to holdem only games or as a compromise have it so only UTG can straddle in the p/l games.

I did have one really interesting decision in Super-Stud though, (yup, I actually managed to see 3rd street once for £60!) & it aroused much comment, & most seemed to think I got it wrong.

I was dealt.....

  Two Diamonds three diamonds

After much thought, I busted the wire-up & retained  Two Diamonds three diamonds

My thinking was "two ways to win, & more chance of the live scoop" that way. The wire-up, and I considered it vulnerable even if it housed up, could only win me half the Pot at best, though with most folks low-ing, that may be a tidy pot.

Thoughts, please?

Depends of how many players are in the pot. How much you can re-raise and whether or not you think there is a bigger wire up out there. Nothing wrong with taking the A23 suited here just have to be willing to throw it away if you miss by 5th street.

Catching up on some sleep I would've thought.

What is this sleep thing?

Excuse my inability to remember, or put names to faces, but were you in Newcastle over the weekend, at the Virgin thing? It was a bit tiring, I confess......Huge fun though.

It's cheered me up no end that I've had a whole bunch of PM's & e-Mails complimenting me on my commentary up there. I did it a "bit different", because it's not really a spectator sport, & we ended up with an absolutely huge Rail. Happy Days. Even at my age, it's nice to have one's ego stroked now & then. If little else.

To be fair, if I can't commentate by now, after over 500 hours of commentating Live on Telly, it's about time I gave up. Got any jobs going at your place?

Keep A23 suited for sure, did you make a straight flush again? Smiley

Always 6 or 7 minimum in the Pot. No amount of re-raising gets them out! And no way of telling, at that stage, if anyone else has a wire-up. I saw four wire-ups last night which were not raised pre. (Because the Live Straddle had larged it up already).
