Wowzer, look at this one.......
Raised to 1,500 pre and we call, it's 4 way with.....
When the flop came down I just sat and admired it for several moments......
What a flop that is.
Nice young Swedish kid makes it 6,000.
I don't need to hesitate too much here, it's a massive spot and it's pointless just calling.
Re-raise all-in.
He calls with A-K with (dead) diamonds but he's in awful shape against my hand.
The dealer then peels off running black sixes for the chop.
What an anti climax.
That was deffo the breakthrough hand I've been looking for all afternoon.
Anyway, on we go.

Am meeting Tikay in the middle. Should have had at least three quarters of a 50k pot, he runner runnered the wheel for a chop, then flopped a house and low draw. Villian rivered a better house and the low missed. Above starting still on 32k.

Just finished the third break of the day, so 60% the day done (they play 10 levels today), blinds now go 300-600.
21,000 and still very much in this. Still need that breakthrough hand though.

A small scoop takes us to 24,000 and after my earlier travails I feel like a millionaire.

I can understand why we aren't moving, but the railbirds are just hanging round too.

Dusted off 8,000 in a nasty one, though I think it was a standard spot and I played it ok.
Raised it up with.....
Three callers.
It comes.....
Think I make a mistake here, I bet out hoping to take it now or get either of my draws home on the turn or river. One caller.
Turn.....
My man pots it now, and it looks like he has spades. That just leaves the nut low draw, so I have to surrender.
16,300.
Bugger. These spots have to be played though.

Level 8 of the 10 scheduled for day one has started, 400-800.
16,300, = 20 Bigs.
Eek.

I am out, lost a three way pot on the river that crippled me, then, despite doubling up through Daniel Negreanu, my comeback faltered when my trip aces lost to a chap holding 9 10 for a straight. The river four also counterfeiting my low.
Enjoyed it in the end, but I was stupidly nervous for the first two hours, not that I had any cards to play, having said that, any four cards seemed to be the motto of quite a few players today.

Unlucky Nick, but hopefully you enjoyed the experience. There's nothing quite like it in poker, and you got to share tables with a name or two.

30 minutes left in level 8 and the deck has gone completely cold on me, not played a hand since the last break 90 minutes ago and have dribbled down to 14,000 at 400-800, with blinds going 500-1,000 in the next level.
Can't just sit here, have to do something, so the plan is to give the fella two to my right a spin with almost any combo hand. He has been raising relentlessly, so he must be light a lot of the time, and unless we mistime it, we will rarely be less than a 45/55 shot.
That's the plan, anyway.

What are the chances? My man moved to the same table as me, and is now on my immediate right.
Plan A reinstated.
