PLO8.

First hand we have A-K-J-2 double suited but whiff the lot.

Next hand we have the amazeballs

A-A-2-3.

Flop is 6-6-5 and fella bets with the obvious 6.

Decide to take one more card, and it's gin.....

A

He bets, I 3 bet and after a long dwell he folds.

He told me he had A-6 (but never showed) but went on to say he had no low so decided it was not worth calling, which would make sense.

I over bet with hindsight. Was hoping he had sixes full, 2-3, or put me on the squeeze with the 2-3 low. Guess I pre-ejaculated.

Loving the feedback, all of it, especially the rubs. If we can't win money, we can at least have some bants along the road. We've not had the rub of the green, but I've enjoyed every moment.

Not got time to reply to many of the posts right now, it's non-stop here, but once things calm down I'll try to.

Slight change of plan today, after doobs alerted me to the fact that there is a Mixed Omaha event at Golden nugget today, $570. I was due to play the $800 @ Venetian, but upon inspection, the GN thing looks a better structure & Mix, so that's the plan.

Here's the 2 structures for those with time on their hands;

Venetian, which seems to be PLO, PLO8 & Big O;

https://www.venetian.com/content/dam/venetian/casino/poker/deepstack/2019/structures/DPCPS_2019-800_PLO_PLO8_BIG_O.pdf

GN, which appears to be a different mix if I read it correctly, PLO8, Limit 08 & Big O. You'll need to scroll down to Page 52 to see it;

https://www.goldennugget.com/contentassets/313f19219fd740bbb31a41f74d1afe19/2019-gps-structures.pdf

I used to be uncomfortable with Limit stuff, but I'm fine with it now.

Starts at 11am local (7pm UK), so will head off Downtown just before 10am, so will be there by 10.15 to get myself settled & sorted.

Dad didn't like my sports book advice then

On the contrary, it was certainly very good advice, and I always respect the views of my elders, but by then I was sort of pot stuck, and was all organised to go to GN.

You seen miserable bollox lately? (Moulty, obv).

Yeah I have had all his bad beat stories yawwwwwwwwn

Bugger, table move. Was a lovely table, but never mind. Was just about to start the first Big O round too. (It changes every 8 hands).

Drew  seat 4 again though. Seat rush.

Think I'm gonna take the Fifth on that.

In the words of Lord MANTIS, it's all speculation.

Another table move, so that's my third table, two of them "new", so somehow I have managed to play for an hour without being dealt a single hand of Big O.

Probably for the best that they limit the hands you play...

Not wrong.

Smoked off a chunk the very first hand of Big O when my    was no good against a sneaky check raiser holding J-J-X-X-X on the J-J-Q flop.

Good luck Obi Wan Kertoni.

No idea what an Obi Wan is but thanks Tom. I think.

End of level 4, first break, 24,000 from 20,000 starting.

This is very fun.

Must say that I am having to deal with all sorts of feelings after yesterday.
I don’t think I made too many mistakes, just amazed at the amount of people playing any four and hitting boards.
A Scottish gent sat next to me played the way I would expect and reaped the benefits against the the table gambler, he had a very nice stack when I ended my stay at the table by standing on Mr Negreanu’s phone that he had left on the floor.
I am left wondering whether I am just fooling myself, throwing away good money by playing. I wanted to play tomorrow’s PLO8 mix, but, at $1500 is it stupid to play a game that has limit and big o , that I have never played and just a third of the game at pot limit ,that I didn’t exactly set the world on fire with yesterday.

Fairly confident that would have been Paul from KK, very good plo8 player.

If you've not played a couple of the games it's got to make life tough. I've paid entry to a couple of WSOP events where I'd be a huge dog to cash for the experience and gamble of it - I wouldn't do it now because I wouldn't place any value on the experience. I think entering this tourney as you've described it should be measured on whether or not you think you would enjoy the way you chose to spend 1500 bucks

Should also say, doubts and stuff are pretty normal for most of us imo, and so best of luck if you decide to play

If you can afford it and you promise yourself to enjoy it, you should do it.

If losing $1,500 (which is likely) either is beyond your budget or will make you miserable, there are much better alternatives. Do something else.

I played an 8 game comp a few years ago at a budget-friendly level, despite having only played a few hands of 2-7 triple draw online ever (figured it worked ok for Matt Perrins....). Was about the most fun tournament I've played in Vegas and I'm a moron for not having played one since. Pencilled in for next time.
