BTW TK, I am still somewhat on a mission to incorporate "Barney" into rhyming slang for "trouble". Unfortunately people don't accept it off me (not even when I tell them I nicked it off someone else)
You seem like the sort of man that can get that accepted..so was rather hoping you could get that in a couple of shows.

"He got himself into real Barney with that hand", that sort of thing. Or, "If you play your hand like that you're asking for Barney"

I reckon it would really help my cause.

Barney is not slang for trouble (from Barney Rubble) - that was something made up for Ocean's 11.

'Barney' means argument and predates the Flintstones (though I couldn't tell you what the etymology is). I don't even think it is Cockney either - it's used a lot in Australia, particularly among people of Irish descent.

barney does indeed mean argument but "barney rubble"="trouble" was around long before oceans 11, it was used when i was a kid some 25 years ago.

  A kid 25 years ago???

cheeky f@ck@er how old do you think i am!!! on second thoughts dont answer that

A year younger than me, I'd say. Maybe two.

Moving a bit off-topic here, but Butchers were, & in some parts still are - very few now sadly - "Family Butchers" & were wonderful places. Sawdust on a stone floor, that rather odd smell, the Butcher with open cuts on all his fingers (I used to wince just looking at their fingers), the guy carrying in a whole side of meat on his shoulder, & always bones for the dog. We used to get bones "for the dog" & then Grandma Angell wold make a stew with them.

Ah yes the old Family Butcher...I love those shops..unfortunately in Glasgow most that still exist are truly awful..though I did work in Bearsden (posh part of Glasgow...if ever there was such a thing) for a little while and we had an office above the place where the baker baked his pies...every day round about 11 I would start drooling with the smell that came from that place. Nothing better than having a Family butcher, green grocer and a proper baker round the corner....Supermarkets just can't compare.

google Images to the rescue.

The caption beneath the pic read as follows....

Jeff was the winner of both Find of the Month awards for August, 2003 with his Calais half groat and heraldic horse pendant pictured below. He is pictured here having a bite during a recent search. By the look of his nearly empty snap box he will soon be swinging his detector again.

Or, as Rich might have said......

"One has mostly concluded the consumption of the contents of one's Packed Lunch".

Rich, next time I see you pardon me if I burst out laughing. I will kiss you, or sure. You've so made my day.

The family buthcher at our last home consisted of a med sized shed at the end of his front lawn, boardering the pavement. He came out of his house to serve you. Still there now.

And from Rich, we move on to Ralph, & I hope he'll pardon me for quoting just a tinsy bit from a PM he sent me recently.

Referring to an upcoming golf engagement, Ralph noted "if the weather is clement".

Now, that is class - proper class. "clement". How often do you hear that word? Inclement frequently, but clement is a word from bygone days, & I just adore it.

Kisses for Ralph, too.

Therefore whilst I am pleased to cause hilarity, I am comforted by my accuracy.

I've had dates like that as well.
