He's not from Leeds originally then? Otherwise it would most certainly be breakfast, dinner and tea.

This week's Poker Account
Work has meant very little poker this week, just 2 Live Tourneys. Online, 1 Tourney & one hour of $3-$6 Omaha Cash.
Online Tourneys
- Lost $250.
Online Cash
- Won $630.
So a small profit there, call it £200.
$380 about equals £200, the currency changed foxed me for a min too!
Aha!! A tikay-esque mis-read on my part.
But it begs the question - why do so many Online Poker Sites still trade in $$$'s?
We live in a £ area, & we have the superbly flexible € in reserve, & yet almost every poker site works in $$$'s......!
And why so? Because the Online Sites are mostly American players? At one time, yes, but now, no sirree.
It's just sloppy management & Customer Care by the Online Sites, who continue to treat poker players like idiots. And get away with it. Once the current over-supply problem starts to kick in, & the Online Sites start to crash & burn (and some WILL, trust me) maybe we will be treated like grown-ups & be able to play poker in a proper & appropriate currency.
For those that do "concede" to allow us to play in £'s & €'s, fair play to them, but they are in a minority.
The dollar is not our currency, it's not stable, & I see no reason why we should be forced to play in someone else's currency.
PS - I get grumpy in the mornings.

So, we all fancy his chips, he cannot Pass ANYTHING.
The weirdest thing of all is that he has an i-pod on, & can't hear the action. Countless times it gets to him & he sticks in a Blind, & is told "there's been a Raise", & he says, instantly each time - "I call - how much is it?". I mean, really, "call" without knowing what the bet is is a tad dangerous, you'll agree, yes?
I'm looking on in amusement, he'll wait, I'm thinking, as he busts player after player.
And suddenly, I get my chance. I'm dealt
& Villain, as expected, Limps. Blinds are 800-1,600, & I have 35k. Well Mr Villain ain't gonna outplay me, Bubble Time or not I think to myself, & I make a bizarre overbet - 35k, All-in, with about 4k in the Pot!
And it gets to him, "eh?" he says as the Dealer looks at him.
"There has been a bet" says the Dealer again.
"Call" he says, "how much is it?"
"35k" says the Dealer, straight-faced.
And without batting an eyelid, he counts out 35k & tosses it in the middle!
His holding was
, he flopped the Q, & it was a very long drive back up the M1, ruing my exit, & I've done £100 when a decent Cash was there for the taking if I play it sensibly.
I'm actually pretty pissed off with myself for the play, because, as I keep banging on, bankroll Preservation is all, & there was good money there to be had if I did not have a brain fart.
But what would YOU do in that spot? I do actually think the play was right - my play, that is - but then again, I went home without any pay. And that's a bad thing, generally.
On the road, there's a technique called "defensive driving", where you try to anticipate bad driving by others. Should we do the same in poker, & shy away from the daft plays, or should we say "sod it, I'm up for it, let's dance"?
66%-34%, so 1in3 you get knocked out. If he has a pair instead then you get knocked out half the time.
I think it's better to call pre flop (or put in a small raise to isolate). Then if you hit and he doesn't it a lock up, if you both hit it's 80-20.
However, nothing too wrong with pushing, you want his chips before someone else has the chance to get them.

No, London, an Old-Etonian I imagine. Smashing bloke, mind, but deffo a bit posh.
I had some time to kill in Leeds yesterday, & found a pavement cafe to while away an hour, but it turned out to be a pub. Bloody hell, I don't do pubs.
So I pop inside to get a glass of Coke which I can put on my table to justify nicking their table for an hour.
She, the BarLady, pours it out of one of those giant bottles of Coke you buy in Tesco's, probably costs about a quid, & charged me £1.80 for a half-pint glass!
These pubs must make a bloody fortune.

Yes, fair comment. I considered just limping, but he'd been nicking pots all night like that, & I felt for 35k there was a chance he'd let go for once, & if he did call, I was probably in decent shape for a shot at a 70k pot. Plans of mice & men, eh?

I guess that you've never been to a dinner-party then, or had a dinner-date with a young(sic) lady.
Hardly surprising if you kept turning up at lunchtime

Been an odd week for me Diary-wise. Worked all weekend & Monday at Luton, & went to a Seminar at Sky on Tuesday about the Gaming Act, 2005. A meet in Leeds yesterday took up most of the day.
Tonight, I do the Sky Show, & then I fly out with Compo to Barcelona from Stansted (Stansted, when I live 10 minutes from East Mids!, but it beats Luton I guess) at 0700 tomorrow (Saturday) morning, to Barcelona for Poker Week, & we fly back into Stansted at around Midnight on Sunday. On Monday morning, fresh as a daisy (one assumes), I am up in Bolton with a Poker Week Cameraman to do an in-depth inteview with Jon "skalie" Kalmar.
Tuesday & Wednesday I'm "resting", then I do the Sky Show 3 nights in 4, (Thursday, Saturday & Sunday), & from Thursday I'm also on daily "Standby" for Poker Week Duties at the WSOP-E, where we hope to grab some decent interviews.
So not much Poker next week, either. I am gonna try & pop down to Plymouth on Tuesday for the £300 Double Chance Freezeout. (Is that a 1 or 2 dayer, anyone know?). I won't play Wednesday's £250 Omaha in Plymouth, much as I'd fancy my chances, as it's a Rebuy, & I refuse to play Omaha Rebuys. Omaha Rebuys destroyed Omaha Comps on the Circuit, so I'm kinda sad this is a Rebuy, when we have so few Omaha jobbies. So it'll be Luton on Wednesday night for the £50 + £50 jobbie. God Bless Luton.
I made a right mess of yesterday's appointment in Leeds. It was a friend & poker business colleague of long-standing, & he wants some help with a very special series of poker events he's gonna stage, private VIP jobbies. His e-Mail said "why not come up to Leeds for Dinner, I can meet you off the train". So I got there about 1.30pm, & there it all went a bit embarrassing, after I rung him "where are you?".
"I said Dinner, not Lunch" says he, apparently not expecting me until 8pm.......
Jeez, why DO posh peeps call evening meal "Dinner"? Dinner is Dinnertime ffs. Breakfast, Dinner, Tea, Supper was how it used to work, but now "Dinner" is Evening. Oh to be posh.
Tk the £250 O in Plymouth is not a re-buy that was a mix up at the printers that should have been sorted before going to print.

Exactly mate, did you see the discussion a few weeks ago about the need for the word 'Brinner' a kind of Northern word for what the southerners call 'Brunch'?

Yup, I did see that Phil. But though I'm not posh, I'm not a common northener either. They are well common up north, you know. Whippets, racing pigeons, Racing Chronicle, speak funny.

My Jon Kalmar Interview on Monday has been moved to Tuesday now, so that's the £300 Hold 'Em Freeze out of the window, but I'll still try & get down for Wednesday's Omaha.

BMI Baby are as cheap as any, & a couple of the other Budget Airlines fly from there. Parking is cheap there too.
