I read a fascinating article about Aiden O'Brien, whose Duke of Marmalade won an astonishing fifth (is that true?) Group 1 of the Season today.
Aiden was being asked about a horse called George Washington, who'd been recalled from Stud Duties because he had fertility problems, & John Magnier had asked O'Brien if he could get some decent "black type" races onto his CV.
O'Brien was as pragmatic as ever.
George Washington is back at Ballydoyle, albeit isolated in a pre-training yard, and O'Brien must now try to convert his libido back into racing energy. "Sure it's possible, but your man's a bit more strong-willed than most," he said. "His mind gets unravelled and it will be interesting to see if we can put it all back together again. We always thought he was immature, mentally, and he got better as the year went on.
But at the moment he's got five legs!
He was getting up every morning and covering two, three, four mares. He'll be introduced to other horses in ones and twos.
He has to realise he can't cover everything he sees
. That's the way he is at the moment, which is natural enough."
yeah I remember that interview...Obrien, like his dad, is a top class horseman..and a funny bugger to boot.
And yes Duke won his 5th on the bounce today..beat the Derby winner in the process...and it was never in doubt (In my humble opinion). look for him on Youtube TK, you'll be amazed at this wonderful horse.

I let off a little steam yesterday, in a Post I made about the behaviour & conduct of Banned blondes. If you read this Diary, you'll have seen it, if you don't, you won't......
Two things about that.
Firstly.....
I mentioned that every Saturday night I get an abusive or threatening text or e-Mail from one recently banned blonde.
Well, last night was Saturday night, & true to form, he wrote to me.
But not in the manner he usually does.......
He had read the Post (as I said, all the recently Banned blondes scrutinise blonde every day!), & felt he wanted to, upon reflection, apologise for his Texts & e-Mails. It was, it seemed to me, a genuine apology.
He did suggest that I may have misquoted him slightly. Without checking my records I don't really know if that's true, but he accepted the gist of my points & apologised profusely. He said he regretted sending these Texts & e-Mails, & ended up by wishing me well in the future.
He particularly wanted to apologise for, & withdraw, the "threatening" text ("you can run, but you can't hide, what you gonna do when I bump into you?"), though he did suggest I'd not accurately quoted the text.
I'm not sure if I've had my chain yanked on this, but I feel quite pleased he's taken the trouble to try & make the peace. Who needs all this grief over a Poker Forum?
I have not decided if I'll reply yet. All this hoohah from, & about, banned Blondes is something the Mods discuss & act upon as a Team, with one of us (in this case me) making the "statement". So I'll need to chat with my fellow Mods & see what we all want to do as to replying.
Our general view on such matters is quite simple. Members who are high-maintenance are a pain, but when they leave us, & even then still remain high-maintenance, it's not reasonable for us to expend more negative energies on them. So our current stance is that we don't plan to respond to any of them, because they have no blonde-related rights.
There's an oddity here, if, like me, you just want a quiet life. We did respond, many, many, times, & took a lot of time & effort (as did he, even more so) to work with a Suspended Member to get him back on board earlier than planned, & I believe it worked successfully, though only time will tell. He may have chnged his mind, now, for all I know, but I hope not.
Parallel with all that, another Member got himself Banned on Thursday or Friday. He was a good friend of mine way before blonde was ever thought of. He wrote me a long, complaining e-Mail, not a terribly nice one, because he is not aware of certain facts, (he HAS had his chain yanked!) but wished me well in the future. I replied as I saw fit, because he's a long-standing personal friend. (These things are so, so, awkward). He replied back, I replied back again, rinse repeat (it's with me now) & there you go, another 3 or 4 hours of my life gone, & nothing to show for it. Meanwhile, I've got trees to watch grow & flowers to smell.
Dilemmas, dilemmas.......I know one thing. Never try running a poker forum!
And so to the second point.....

So, as I noted above, I let off a little steam on here yesterday.
I just want peace & quiet in my life. If you like blonde, great, hang around. If you don't, naff off, why stay here? There's no in-between, it's like being partly pregnant, or very dead. Like it & stay, or dislike it & go away, there's no compulsion either way.
But I reflected long & hard on my rant yesterday, & after much thought, I've decided to remove it, & have done so this morning.
Why? I'm not really quite sure. But I think I've realised that, in effect, I've done the same as my/our detractors, in having a public rant. When I read all these Blogs & stuff "sounding off", all that paranoia (sp) nonsense, I just feel that with every passing day, they look dafter. And I think I was guilty of doing the same thing. So I've removed it. I still think everything I said, I just think it's better left unsaid.
We (the blonde Mods) still need to make our position known on on all this ex-Member nonsense that's doing the rounds, there's so many lies & disinformation out there, but we need to word it "just so". The purpose, of course, is to broker peace, rather than have all this nonsense & lies about me & us plastered all over the place. Never the twain shalll meet again, not on this Forum, anyway, but it's rather sad to see how badly folks heads can get messed, how obsessed they can become, by a poker forum.
OK, I'm done, & I'm off to work shortly.
Give me coffee, now. Any my old 'phone back.
Enjoy your Sunday, whatever you do.

That just escalates things, & I'm into de-escalation.
For the sake of record, the guy that wrote to me last night says I misquoted his "threat". What he states he said was this.....
"the thing is at some point we will bump into one another, what will you do? run?",
(for which he's now apologised).
I don't know if that's exactly what the text said, as I lost my texts when I changed 'phones the other day, but I am happy to accept those were the actual words used. It's debatable as to whether it would be construed as "threatening" though, I suppose. Depends how you read it, or what was intended when written. Threats from others have been more clear-cut. Hollow threats, mind, it's just keyboard-warrior stuff.
Abusive? Oh yes, we & I've got oodles of those - we've been called every name under the sun!
Let's just move on, is my view, I've got a life to live, even if they have not.

It no longer is tolerated on blonde, praise be.
It's bizarre when it gets to "afters" though.

Ah yeah, my bad for thinking his dad was Victor. His dad is Derek, admittedly small, P2P trainer. Can't find his results anywhere (as most P2P results are impossible to find) but I believe he had a bit of success in the P2p sphere..(atleast that's what I was just told by someone whom I would expect to know) I did confuse him with Victor for some reason...can't think why other than having a very blonde moment.
