I was a little premature with my harsh judgement of the Chris Evans book the other day, it's better than I suggested. The writing style is just like his talking style, & it's hard to adjust to that after reading, say, Bill Curling's wonderfully polished style.
But he tells it as it is, & is far more humble & self-deprecating than I ever realised. He works hard, too, too prepare for his Shows. He's messed up a lot of things, & accepts it, no excuses.
The Chapters are way too short to get absorbed in, but I'll finish it, I think. Quickly, though.
3 out of 10, then.

I should first say that I'm in Vegas to look after, & give "one-on-one" Updates, Blogs, Tweets, TV Interviews, etc, to the Team Sky Poker crew, but there are only 6, so never more than 2 players per flight, as we have deliberately organised that they play on different opening flights. I won't be compromising that in any way, shape or form.
But, & as as long as it does not cut across that, I may be able to do the same for any blondes, DTD'ers (
so long as it does not cut across any coverage DTD do
), APAT-ers, friends of blonde", & "faces" which are of interest to many of us.
But there were some issues to first overcome......

Lol, Macklin St, Derby, near where the "Pink Coconut" used to be! It always struck me as so incongrous - a shop that did Haircutting & sold Railway books!
That's been there a good few years, too, amazing how he makes a living.

So, back to those "issues"......
Here was my proposal/request/question to the Mods.......
".....I am seeking a favour/clearance for a slightly borderline issue.
I'll not contribute to the debate, & wlll accept the Mods Ruling whatever is decided.
I'm off to Vegas on Thursday.
I'll be walking the WSOP ME floor for at least 7 playing days, 1a, b, c, d, 2a & b, & 3.
As long as it does not cut across my responsibilities to SP, who are financing the trip, or comprimise the WSOP Media Accreditation rules, I'll be able - keen in fact - to give real-time tweets from Tableside on Chip Counts & useful goss on any blondes, DTD regulars, APAT-ers etc. I believe that may be quite well-received.
The slight problem is that my Twitter page is "sponsored" (just badged, really) by SP.
To see the extent of this, see
http://twitter.com/Tony_Kendall
I normally use Twitter like so.....
An eclectic range of subjects, almost like my Diary, with a 20% ratio of SP spams. The spams are usually for my little tikay-badged Tourneys (I have 5 of them on SP) whiich have buy-ins ranging from £2.20 to £11. Not exactly "on Message" to blondes & DTD-ers, & in truth, I don't want to cross-spam blonde & SP in either direction.
Sometimes the Tweets use a "bit-link" (simply, an abbreviated link to make it tweet-friendly) to direct "followers" to my SP-hosted Blogs. The Blogs are on SP, but that apart, do not directly accost readers with Spam. Again, an eclectic range of blogs interspersed with occasional spammy stuff. My Blog Page is here......
https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?action=show_static&page=poker_community_blog&plckBlogId=Blog:984622ff-5ae6-4357-a087-da942593ca53
(You can now see why I need bit-links!).
Again it's a mixture, however, during my Vegas trip, it will be daily or twice daily Blogs which.....
1) Major on the SP players.
2) Are general "photo's from Vegas" things.
To facilitate all this, I would simply Post my Twitter page link on my Diary, & suggest readers sign up to my Twitter account if they wish to avail themselves.
There is a side-issue to this, too....."

Ahhhhh The Pink Coconut, I remember many a street-brawl outside there on a Friday night when running the gauntlet fron the casino to the car-park.

"The side issue.
Last Thursday....... I received my new SP non-TV Contract, which is quite seperate from my TV Agreements.
Once again, despite tying my promotional & image rights up to the nth degree - they truly own me - but pay handsomely for that dubious privilege - I was once again given special exemption to promote blondepoker "within reason".
Of course, blonde no longer has a Cardroom, instead, we promote DTD, our Sponsors. So, I'm free to help where I can with DTD puff.
To that degree, though it's quite often under-the-radar, I continue to work hard with Rich, Nick W & Rob Yong to try to help make the DTD Deal work. On Sunday, for example, I spent an hour or more on the phone discussing & proposing ways we could improve DTD click-throughs, aided greatly by co-operation from all.
So it's not a one way street, though it may appear so. Then again, I would say that.
Over to you guys....."

I then went into a long debate about how I can increase my Twitter "followers", which is something I need to do, for SP-based commercial reasons.
I got a few handy hints from such as Kinboshi, & Andrew T, & I'm working on those.
So there it is. If you want tablesideUpdates on any blondes, DTD-ers, APAT-ers, in the WSOP ME, just name them, & I'll see what I can do. I'll do a Thread to promote it, in due course, I expect.
I'm reasonably confident that the blondes & DTD guys have the nous & good sense to seperate the spam from the chaff. And if they don't want to risk it, they don't have to follow or click my Tweets.
My twitter page is......

Finally, I explained this......
"......By the bye, a "bit-link" works like this, & is needed on Twitter because each tweet can only have a maximum 140 characters.
So a bit-link is used to convert this.......
https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?action=show_static&page=poker_community_blog&plckBlogId=Blog:984622ff-5ae6-4357-a087-da942593ca53
To this......
http://bit.ly/bsC3Ge
Clicking either has the same result.
In addition, the bit-links count & analyse how many "click-throughs" it generates, & further analyses from where they are derived - Facebook, Twitter, e-Mails, other Forums, etc, & also geographically. So my click-throughs can be measured & analysed in great detail. Amazingly, & sadly, at present, 70% of my clicks come via Facebook, though an imbalace of "Friends" & "Followers" contributes to this. I currently have 901 Facebook "friends" & only 144 Twiter "followers"......"
Footnote - My Twitter Followers are now up to (a pitifully low) 158, so a nice 24 hour surge. Not enough though.

That's been there a good few years, too, amazing how he makes a living.
Ahhhhh The Pink Coconut, I remember many a street-brawl outside there on a Friday night when running the gauntlet fron the casino to the car-park.
At one stage, I frequented the Pink Coconut!
Later, I became a Member of the Snooker Club next door but one, (with my then mate, Charles Fryer, of the Housing company of that name), & under that (now part of it) was the Stanley Casino, where I played & won my first ever poker Tourney.
Regulars there were Mr Ulliott, Dave Welch, & all the old-time Derby & Notts faces, including Taff, Ash, Big Micky, Jez, da de da. I stopped playing there when I realised that the Cardroom Mansger, a short stocky guy, was creaming off the rebuys from the Prize Pool. I did a mental sum at the Final Table, the chips never "tallied", & I kicked up a fuss, & met with a pretty hostile reception from several faces. Who I later realised were all in on it.
It was a good lesson for me though - be VERY careful who you trust in poker. That one must have saved me six figures over the years. I spotted the same ruse at Gala Notts a year or two later, & at a "grey" semi-licensed Club in London, too.
I became addicted to Roulette & Blackjack there, (Stanleys, Derby) too, for a good few years, & was a good few £k in the hole - 5 figures - before I came to my senses.

Charles Fryer was a right story. I really must write about him, his business (he lived a TOTAL lie), his lady, (who later became my lady), & the fun we had together before it all came out on top.
We played snooker every night, at Lenton Abbey, & then John Singh's place in the Lace Market, where David Singh was resident snooker pro, & billed as "England's first Asian Snooker Pro".
John ended up in prison after his car showroom accidentally burnt down, due to that accident with the can of petrol at 3am. Luckily, he was fully insured.
Charles & I went to the luxurious Victoria Sporting Club in Nottingham regularly for meals, gambling, snooker, & all night whatever, & I was always curious why he made out to be his brother. Jeeez, what a story that was.
I can't recall the name of the sort who owned the Victoria Club, but he owned almost all the Nottingham gaming dives & joints, too. Right character, him.

Well, a dozen or more are currently reading this Thread, but no incoming Posts, which makes me a tad nervous, so I think it's time to get back to the Hotel & pack, ready for the morrow. I'll be in Vegas before I open blonde up again, so what will be will be.
I'm really quite nervous about the reception this Twitter thing will get, which is odd, because there's no need to be.
That old self-confidence (lack of) thing again. Which, to be fair, has served me well all my life.
Toodle-pip.

That would be George Aikin who I believe started out "protecting" pitches on local markets.
He sent his sons to Eton which always amuses me.
