Wow, that is a GREAT photo, Tighty.

The coverage is phenomenal, I'm lapping it up, watching every bit I can, reading everything, but I feel a bit like a motorway crash rubber-necker.

I'm not sure why it so fascinates, & I'm slightly embarrassed that it does. But it just does.

On the ODI cricket note Tikay, didn't Gavaskar or one of the other Indian batsmen bat for the full 60 overs for 35 not out in the 1st ever ODI?!

Tikay, your thoughts on what is happening in Libya, Gaddafi, and the UK's relationship with a barbaric dictator who seems to have a face made from plasticine?

It was the 19th and he notched up an impressive 36no from 174 balls!

I remember hearing that they thought 334 wasn't reachable so tried to bat out for a draw...

Just spoke to my sister who lives in Christchurch. She was at work when it all kicked off and her business is 4 doors away from the catherdral so they took the brunt of it. Chaos apparently with all the windows popping out and everybody hiding under their desks screaming. Her building has collapsed so god knows when normality will return. Aside from the physical damage there is a lot of subtle mental damage as well. When the ground beneath your feet becomes unstable it robs you of your confidence so the mood in Christchurch is one of worry and uncertainty. Of course they've just got over a wave of earthquakes a few weeks ago and confidence was just starting to return so this is quite a setback. Lots of aftershocks every hour or so so people are still very anxious at the moment although the worst does seem to be over.

Yeah I have seen the coverage of this match on ESPN classic, they showed the England innings highlights and didn't bother with India. Apart from an India fan remonstrating with Gavaskar about him blocking.

When one day cricket started, 1962 Gillette Cup, I think Sussex won it in the final scoring 172-5 off 60 with Ted Dexter scoring the runs

It was only post Packer, and the advent of the World Cup in 75 that the game became distinct

I too far prefer Test Cricket, or indeed County cricket

When I go to watch county cricket, I reckon there are less than 10 of us sub 60 years old in a midweek crowd.

How much is it to get in on an average wednesday in June to see some county stuff?

£14 at trent bridge iirc. Though you can get in for £3 just for the after tea session.

I occasionally go if the weather is nice and to drop the average age.

I wonder how much money lose from the 4-day game, but gain in the 1-day game?

or is it more complicated than that?

When I was a kid I often went to Hampshire or Kent Championship home games, when the family visted either of my set of grandparents during the summer holidays.

Haven't been to a game for over 30 years, will definitely rectify this in the summer and go to a Durham game.

Fantastic memories watching Malcolm Marshall, Gordon Greenidge, Derek Underwood, Asif Iqbal etc

I got frogmarched, very much against my will, to go to a pub - a public house, ffs - to have Lunch with some friends today to celebrate Blandy's Birthday.
I love Blandy, but going into a pub is a step too far for me, I'd not do that for almost anyone. I sulked & pouted like a spoilt brat.

I'm not sure if I've ever told you this Kendall, but I bloody love you.

A decent set of Results for 2010 for Ladbrokes, a 10% Final Div hike, & with newbie Richard Glynn solving many of their problems.  Except poker. They need to sort that 888 deal pretty sharpish. In the greater scheme of things, Poker makes not much difference overall to Laddies, it is a very small part of the whole.

Net poker revenue fell to £18.7 million, from £23.7 million. That is a serious drop, & follows several years of the same thing. It used to be my favourite site at one time, as it was to so many.

As to European Online Poker, they were in pole position to move onwards & upwards 5 or 6 years ago, be a "major" (European), but it all went wrong somewhere.

                                                               2010        2009         Change

Unique active players (000s)                         99          137          (-27.7%)

Average monthly active player days (000s)     226          293         (-22.9%)

Yield per unique active player (£)                  191          174         (+9.8%)

I'm not a follower of the finance as such but I used to be a big fan of Laddies poker when they were a stand-alone site, they were my "home" poker site and the one I used to fire up first every day for five or six years at least.

My favourite tourney was the 7pm. $10k gte. $20+R NLHE tourney which I won at least half a dozen times which shows you how long I must have been a reg. I used to play PLO and PLO8 cash on there quite a bit too.

Happy days but in the past now.

Sad, but true, Ralph.

Jeff Kimber used to do well on there, as did Tim Blake. "The Daddy" on Sunday was the highlight of the week, & I think Tom won that several times, too. As sexy Tourney monikers go, "The Daddy" was way ahead of it's time.

Nothing stays the same for long, I suppose, but, like the loss of Tribeca, it's a bit sad really.

You playing the £100 at DTD this Saturday?

A very good chance that I'll be playing it Tony.

See you there?

More than likely, Ralph.

March will be busy. SPT Luton, Shows most weekends, GUKPT @ The Vic with TSP, so not much by way of weekend poker for a while, so I was looking for something to play this weekend, & that DTD £100 jobbie will do nicely.

I actually had a look round to see if any Fessies were on anywhere, & all I could find in UK/Ireland was something in Castlebar, Mayo, which is the top left hand corner on the far side of Ireland, must be an absolute mare to get to!

So yes, most probably.

I went to DTD a few weeks back, & played like a mummified cock, but had the most wonderful day, I had so many "good" Tables. More of the same will do just nicely. I no longer have the appetite (or, I expect, a good enough game) to pay big money for Tourneys, but I still adore small-ball poker, anything up to about £500 & I stay in my comfort zone, & don't lose any money or sleep, either.

It's a distant memory, but playing £1k Events & busting to making a bad play, or an outdraw, used to hurt. I don't like hurt.

Maybe we can get Tiny Tom along, too?
