Avram Grant clearly failed to cut the mustard at West Ham, hard to quibble with that.

But it's rare in any walk of life, following such an abject failure, for the incumbent to be so dignified, &, more to the point, not point fingers at anyone but himself.

When interviewed on Saturday, he made no excuses whatsoever -

"the Team never performed, but it's my fault the Team never performed, I'm devestated, but I accept full responsibility. I so wish I could have done a better job".

He may not be a decent Premiership Manager, but I think he's a decent man, & I bet he'd rather be the latter.

So refreshing to find someone honest enough to shoulder the blame, & to face defeat & the mocking that goes with it with such dignity.

And let's not forget the incredible pressure he worked under at Portsmouth, when the club were clearly busto.

I hope he picks up a decent job somewhere.

It's a job to find a photo of him on google images actually smiling, so here's a happier Avram in his Chelsea days.

I believe he's never pointed fingers at anyone.

Instead, he just said 'I'll have the pretty Thai one."

You need to fit a PC with a video capture card, which are available for around £25.
I used the same method to convert old VHS to DVD's
If your using a laptop there are usb devices to do the same job,but a bit more expensive.

I had a capture card in the past, but found it to be more trouble than it was worth.  So I bought one of these http://bit.ly/mqwkdf for £20 and put an old hard drive in it.

Attach it to the Sky+ output, hit record, then copy the movie to the PC.

Damn, I messed up my new-found resolution to Post daily, so a double dose on Wednesday.

Been a tumultous few days, but a break in the weather is imminent.

Monday was SUCH a mixed day, unbelievable, lows & highs in equal measure.

Chris Huhne is a dead duck.

Anyone who watched his interview on TV on Monday, who knows the first thing about defensive body language & O Level psychology, can see that.

It now transpires that his statement was beautifully disingenuous, in fact he was referring to ANOTHER identical case of someone taking his speeding ticket rap for him. Might be acceptable amongst many, but not for a Cabinet Minister. How many more skeletons in his cupboard?

They had some sport with him in the H-o-C yesterday, too, when he gave his Climate Change statement, with the Opposition crafting "go-slow" & "accelerate" into their stiff-lipped replies. He's a goner, good & proper.

He reminds me very much of another low-life, Neil Hamilton, ex MP. It's all in the eyes.

Immediately following his statement was a debate on the dangerous driving act or similar.

They reckon his denial will become a text book case of how not to do a "door stepping".

the arrogance of some of these mp's makes me sick. my former mp elliot morley  got caught up in the expenses scandal claiming for a mortgage he had paid off. first denies any wrong doing, then has a shot a parlimentery privaledge, then elects to go not guilty and go to trial, then tries a plea bargining and now has decided to plead guilty to shorten his sentance. imo the original crime aint as bad as all the farting about trying to get off

Reminds me of a tale I heard about a Welsh councillor who was accused of fraud of sometime. All through his campaign he maintained his innocence, responding to anyone who asked that he'd been a councillor for 20 years and was as honest as the day is long. He won the election and then pleaded guilty at his trial.

Not sure it's wise to try & mess with Vicky Pryce. Bright girl, sharp girl, & knows she has him exactly where she wants him. She appears to be loving every minute of it!

his statement was beautifully disingenuous,

Reminds me of a corker from the past.  I had to chair a disciplinary hearing for a member of staff who had rather a lot of sick leave, all 3 days or less stuff.  I opened up with a traditional King's Gambit E2-E4 expecting an E7-E5 type of reply.  Instead I got a voluntary Fool's mate.

"So, 37 days off sick this year, and we are only into May."

"Yeah, but on 4 of those days I was actually sick, so they don't count, innit."

I'm playing this on Day 1e, Friday.

I have no plans for the Saturday & Sunday........

Playing Wednesday or Thursday I think.

LL if we both make day 2 or do you want to go by levels?

Morning Matt, only just seeen this, sorry.

Either is good by me, as I am nailed on to win the LL, so let's do "Day 1 Levels", if both still in on Saturday, juat revert to normal L-L.

If you are agreeable, shall we donate the L-L winnings to Poker for Heroes?

Day 1 levels is good for me.

Donate your winnings to whoever you like pal. Mine will be going behind the bar.

You have a deal, Lord Russell.

Went out at 300/600 + 50 level whichever one that is. 7 I think. Good luck on Friday.
