Or does the fact that there is no nothing mean there is some something?

LOL... it takes subtlety to play the mid connectors and not too chase to hard..hit it hard or dump it..... people get to carried away with big pairs...a control check somewhere in the hand is often a good thing.. the mistake they make is being too concerned with what they have in their hand rather than what their oppo is calling with on a dry board..willie tann is a master with big pairs..he either checks flop or turn and catches them bluffing or overplaying without ever over committing himself...

but hey I'm crap what i know.....

How did you get on last night Deano?

It's the Champion's League Final tonight which takes me back to the first one I ever saw on black and white telly.

I was at a boarding school in Bucks. and in a most unusual and unexpected change to our routine we were all (the over elevens I guess) allowed to stay up and watch the European Cup Final between Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt.

It was the great Real Madrid team c1960 featuring Di Stefano and Puskas and i remember Eintracht taking the lead, perhaps twice and the commentator saying that this was not unusual for that Real side who eventually ran out 7-3 winners if memory serves.

I hope tonight's game is half as good.

Pylons got Talent?

The Pylon Factor?

Britain's Next Top Pylon?

They definitely need to think of a catchy name for it but National Grid have announced a Design-A-Pylon competition!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/may/23/electricity-pylon-competition-design

also possibly of interest

Fascinating.

Another amazing week has just whizzed by.

Tomorrow (Friday) I'm playing 1a of the DTD £300, then back to London on Saturday to do the Show, &, I hope, back up to Notts on Sunday for the DTD £300 Day Two. Or not.

I'm also treating myself on Friday to a suite in a lovely country house hotel, not far from DTD in fact, has a little lake full of duckage, swanage & geeseage, as I'm really getting into this nature lark now. The plan is to be up at dawn on Saturday & go & sit by the lake & watch tricks.

Can't wait.

GL to Cody & Dempsey in Vegas, too. I fly out on the 20th, & am like a little boy "counting the sleeps".

The Diet is going wonderfully, 8lbs gone in under 3 weeks, & I'll easily overshoot the target.

All good & dandy. Oh to be a little younger, though, but it is what it is, & I must ensure I don't waste a day.

1. Paula Yates went through life with Jess Yates, the Songs of Praise Presenter as her dad

However in the mid 80s there were revelations that the Opportunity Knocks presenter Hughie Green was her dad, in his autobiography

This was confirmed by DNA testing

Paula Yates became deeply depressed and committed suicide a couple of years later

2. Slash better than Pete Townsend?

3. Michael Hutchence died from self asphyxiation during a sex game, I believe. With Paula Yates. Hence Anna's slight reluctance and hesitation when you raised the subject

misinformed ftw?

either I am missing a huge chunk of what this is about, or ................ im missing a huge chunk of what this is about

Paula Yates committed suicide, but im pretty sure that this was due to the death of her husband (Hutchence) a few years before. Several years of drung and alcohol abuse took its toll on yates till she could take no more.

Hutchence died alone in a hotel room and the autopsy report did suggest autoerotic asphyxiation. Yates had always insisted it was suicide due to the fact that he had been distraught  that night after Bob Geldof had been refusing custody of children

Was going to post something along similar lines.

Tighty's post seems to suggest that Paula Yates killed herself because Hughie Green was her father.

It mentions nothing of all the other goings on in her generally f**ked up life which I'm guessing were much more significant contributory factors.

Coroner's report on Paula Yates was accidental heroin overdose, not suicide.

She died nearly three years after Hutchence.

Gatso's bullshit fact detector would break if he read this thread.

Paula Yates is still alive and working in a greasy spoon in Nottingham (with Elvis).

last night's Sky Poker show

thanks for the clarifications to the gaps in my knowledge

watching the Hughie Green BBC4 Programme within the last year, Paula's depression over the issues surrounding her father/real father definitely cited as a factor in her depression/suicide/overdose
