One of THE great world records, Bob Beaman, 1968, setting a mark that was not to be beaten for 12 years.

I watched this in a shop window in Walton-on-the-Naze. Not many blondes will have seen it it, or ever will see England win a World Cup. The feel-good factor was incredible.

Wishful thinking, perhaps.
Arguably, not the nicest or most decent chap to have been Captain of his national team. Still, even Bobby Moore was accused of nicking stuff in Bogota.

I blame the Scots. This was pretty much the end of what were once HUGE annual affairs, "The Home Internationals", involving, annually, England, Wales, Scotland, & Northern Ireland, & they were a big deal then. Now, no interest. Hooliganism & drunken behaviour speeded their demise. Sad, really.

Tyson is his heyday was an animal, but was terrific to watch, so exciting, & aggressive, so beautifully & powerfully built. He could bite, too.

History is made, Tighty gets a football question spectacularly wrong.

Looks very much like Booby Gould? Possibly Sprake as the keeper? The punch would be more in character then...
