VERY odd, but pleasant, night in Luton. It had been a challenging day here and elsewhere - gotta love Forums when they have dem tetchy moods on - & some other stuff going off at the same time, so I was looking forward to it, & I'm running very well lately  in the DC (I love variance).

Sat with £500, Chandra was spraying chips around like confetti, & we were soon north of £1,250, where we stayed most of the evening.

Played fairly disciplined, & made a very odd play in Lowball when on 6th Street, heads up, I potted it for £70 showing K high against Matey Boy showing J high but with paired aces. He can't call, see?

He called.

I hit a lovely card on 7th street & check-called, rather bravely for me, £100 on the end, & my 9-5-4-3-2  v his 9-8-x-2-A was good. In truth, I don't at all understand the game dynamics of low ball, but it looks a good bluffing game.

On the very last hand of the evening - I had decided to quit @ midnight so I could get some badly needed kip - I got myself in a bit of a mess in a 5 card O hand.

I flopped a set of 8's OOPs on a 6-8-9 flop, & faced some action from Mr Aggro round the back. I'm not quite sure where I am here, but I think I'm good, & I know I'm good when the turn pairs the 6.  The rivered 6 was not expected, though. Bla bla, I ended up calling £200 on the end, & he had the quads.

So, ended with £750 in front of me for a £250 profit, & booked my 4th profit in a row in that game. About time too. I expect to donk the lot off on Sunday, but for now, it pays for a torrid time in "tikay Tips", where we enjoyed an up & down evening, to say the least.

I bet Tom wouldn't have such flagrant pilfering on his diary.

"flagrant plagiarism" would have scanned so much better Mr T.

I just caught up with your diary whilst on a funicular railway, jealous?

Longest skiing holiday ever? Your touring the alps or something?
I reckon life's a holiday. Bet he can't remember the last time he needed to use a nail brush.

Must say I am enjoying his work    on the mixed game. Enjoyed last nights episode and it seems to have gone on forever. How long did it actually take from the start of the first heat to the final hand?

Anyone, even you, Jase, can follow Mr Demps balla lifestyle & daily chirps on his Twitter feed, which goes under the rather odd handle of....

@FoieGrasAddict

Yesterday's tweets include "just did €500 on a taxi, #swisstaxidrivermynextjob"

He is, it seems, skiing somewhere up in the Alpy things.

He has never worn a skiing helmet until this trip, but he now does, & on almost his first run - black, undoubtedly - with crash lid he smashed into a tree, head first. True.

No need to apologise. I'm sure it was an honest mistake. As I say I'm not really talking about those articles, more as a general rule.

Best practice is to quote a small section (fair usage) and then link to the original author. That is not breaking any copyright laws. And it is also the right thing to do.

As I stated yesterday, it was exactly that.

A re-occurrence is unlikely......

May we deduce from your flippant use of the term "skid lid" that the tree is OK?

Good man.

Am not sure what "FoieGras" is, I assume it is some sort of pate. (Posh peeps fish paste).

Shippams Fish Paste used to be a Sunday treat when we were kids, wonderful stuff.

I have an extraordinarily evocative memory of fish paste sarnies for a very special reason indeed, but I'll not trouble you with such incredible tales.

Watched the Budget being delivered today. Being a Tory I hope Ed Miliband stays as leader of Labour for a long time to come. He is brilliant.

It upsets me to watch it. Them all sat there having a whale of a time mucking about.
I don't normally vote but I will be voting conservative as long as Ed Miliband continues to be the most useless idiot I have ever seen.

I used the far less hip phrase "crash lid", but yes, despite what must have been an incredible blow from something so huge, the tree survived.

How is Brussels?

Run out of money yet?

Still homesick?

Looking back, most of my posts seem to have a food theme. This one is no exception.

Only Brits and Americans eat Bacon egg and sausage for breakfast.  Everyone else eats fruit & yoghurt or bread and cheese.

I'm in the Charlemagne building. It has an incredibly high tech conference room complete with big screen, banks of interpreters in glass booths, desks with microphones and headphones etc.

The security procedures are phenomenal.

Blimey Tone, (I always wonder if it winds you up when I call you Tone) your diary has moved on apace during my big sleep. I intended to comment on your bird pic. It's a great effort. Both in frame and in focus.

Birds are really really hard to photograph.  So don't get discouraged.  Be pleased with your efforts.

The real secret is, get closer. My bird pics are improving mainly because I am sneaking the feeders nearer to the window.

That's the hard bit for me. It's hard for a bird not to notice a near 14 stone lump, cursing as he struggles with lens covers & camera settings, trying to sneak closer.

I CAN get nice & close to the ducks & geese on the river though, as I have got some special food for them, & they approach right up close.

I walked across to the river side @ 5.30am this morning, camera in hand, like a new toy, it was lovely, but another photo fail.

Enjoy your junket in Brussels. Wink

Closeness win, focus fail. Sigh.

Thanks for that Mum, loved it.

Astonishing - presumably the wren was in some sort of tupor, or trauma, to allow you to get so close?

I saw my first wren recently (in real life) & could barely believe how small they are.

Beautiful, beautiful, little things. We are so blessed to have such a rich variety of birdlife, very little gives me more pleasure or amazement trhan birdlife, every single day.

I have all the bird books, & watch all the "NatureWatch" stuff, am a RSPB Member, (am RSPB sanctuary visiting this weekend in fact) & if I were on Desert Island Discs, & they asked me, as is customary, what single luxury I would take, it would be Sir Attenborough's "Life of Birds" thingie I think.

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wren

Please note - this photograph was not taken by me, in case you wondered.

PS - I'm pretty sure I recall that a wren used to feature on one side of farthings.

Yes!

I believe they are out of circulatiion now.

Stuff used to be priced @ eleven pence three farthings, or "nineteen shillings, eleven & three farthings".

Had online poker existed then, the small cash games would have been farthing-halppenny, & the balla chaps would play 1d-2d.

PS - For younger readers, there were 960 farthings in a quid.

You could buy a gobstopper with one of those, four for a penny they were.
