Met Des Wilson at the weekend. Made the last two tables at Plymouth with me and Pizzled.
You know him? I was very impressed by him.
Swimming with Sharks Des Wilson?
Very interesting fella if so.

Vinni, Camel.
Yes, I know Des very well, & am honoured to call him a friend.
I've spent some time at his cottage, & smallholding, in deepest Cornwall, where he lives with his wife who is an artist.
We played poker in a sort of local pub, over 100 turned up, & all were related.
I helped Des a lttle with the Devilfish book, which he graciously acknowledged in the book, though most of what I told him about Mr U would not have got past the legal people.
Camel mentions Des's work with the Lib Dems, but he did a great deal more than that.
Founder of Shelter, publicist for RSC, a role with the England & Wales Cricket Board, Corporate affairs at BAA, columnist with the Observer, & much much more.
All of those count for nothing against his biggest achievements though, one being his campaigning for Freedom of Information, but most of all, his worldwide campaign to introduce lead-free petrol.
Try & guess how many lives that saved, how many people who would have had their lives & minds badly affected by lead poisoning were it not for Des & others who worked so hard to raise awareness.
And here's the thing - he debated as hard as hard could be, ferociously, but he did so without descending into the usual nonsense we see so often when debates get hot, & people cannot debate coherently without resorting to profaniries & personal attacks. (And breathe....)
It's an absolute privilege to count him as a friend, & I'm glad you mentioned him, I think it's time I went down to Cornwall & saw him again. Hero, legend? Just a bit.

The blog just keeps getting better Tony, excellent penage.
I played with Paul, x 22 last year and thought he must be down on his luck entering the Aria daily $125. I hope Padraig is in better health than his photo suggests, I love listening to him ripping into Jesse May in the commentary box.
Just wow at the achievments of Des Wilson.

Nice blogging Tone. Very competent camera work too.
Such an eclectic mix of characters. Each one would fill several chapters of a book...

Hat's off to your fitness Tony, you're playing an absolute blinder out there.
I remember you blogging about Des Wilson before, an amazing guy.

"One-Off" Stakers for the WSOP Omaha were, if I recall correctly......
Doobsy had $250 worth - call it 17%.
Shelley Bedi had 2.5%. (I told Geo to GTFO).
henrik77 (Sandy) had 2.5%. Feel for him, he asked for $500 worth!
Stu (claypole) had 5%.
The profit was $13,578, & everything was on credit, so as I see it, the returns due are as follows.....If payment is made in £ Sterling, I have used today's rate.
Doobsy = $2,261.70 (£1,464.44).
Shelley = $377 (£243)
henrik = $377 (£243)
claypole = $754 (£486).
Payment can be in $$$'s, if n Vegas, (which suits, as I have a few....) or by Bank Transfer, as you wish. Send me Bank Details by PM if needed, please.
These were the "one-off" Stakers in the WSOP event.
Doobsy - Paid £1,464.44 by Bank TX.
Shelley Bedi - Paid £243 by Bank TX. Don't give a PENNY to Geo, right?
Sandy (Henrik77), please PM me your Bank Details. £243 due.
Stu (claypole) Paid £650 by Bank TX, which includes my costs for staking you, all as agreed.
Weighed in!
These were all paid at the time, EXCEPT Sandy, for whom I needed Bank Details. He sent them a day or two later, but I got a bit behind with PM's & stuff due to workload. Apologies, but I have tonight paid Sandy.

Saving Skybet money IMO (at least with 4 players to go on 16th anyway).

Staking Syndicate Final Update.
Venetian Sunday night - $200
Venetian Seniors, Monday - $600
Omaha Hi-Lo, Binions, Tuesday, $230
Omaha, Golden Nugget, Wednesday, $230 (cashed for $4,160)
HORSE, Golden Nugget, Thursday, $230
Omaha, Caesars, Friday, $230 (cashed for $531)
Limit Hi-Lo, Golden Nugget, Saturday, $230
PLO 8 or Better, Wynn, Sunday, $340 (cashed for $2,431)
PLO 8 or Better, WSOP, Tuesday, $1,500 (cashed for $15,078)
Venetian Omaha, 28th June, $600.
Golden nugget, 30th June, $1,080
Spent = $5,470
Cashed = $22,200
Profit = $16,730, so every 1% is worth $167.30.
At today's rate, that equals £106.75 per 1%, if my maths are correct.
Stakers & their %'s are......
Irene Nutcase Trip5 1%, so £106.75 due. Please send me Bank Details, Irene, & I'll ship.
Aaron/Machka, 5%, so £533.75 due. I have your Bank Details & will TX this sum shortly. Remind me if we have any prev unsettled balances, please.
Alan Nice Man, 1%, maximum £65 spend agreed. (PAID in advance). Due £106.75 PLUS £65, = £171.75. PM or e-Mail me your Bank Details please, & I will ship.
Plump Bloke, 2% = £213.50. You arrive here today, we can settle up in cash. £213 50 due.
Methuselah, 2% = £213.50. I have your Bank Details, I will tx shortly.
MerelyBurnMoney - 5% = £533.75. I have your Bank Details, I will ship shortly.
Phil Q - 5% - Phil is here, I'll agree with him how to pay, but I'll probably do a Bank TX. I have your Bank Details.
I really enjoyed all this.
Last November, I came here, played 12 or 14 Tourneys, & never cashed for a bean. It was my first ever losing trip to Vegas, though it was "close" last July iirc, when we had 3 cashes but made little or nothing. It sort of got inside my head a bit, & I fretted endlessly that I was past it. We have now shown that with a bit of run good, we can still nick a result or two.
I could not be more pleased.
Thanks all.
There were three outstanding payments here (as enboldened above), the others were all paid at the time, or I think they were. If not, speak up.....
Irene - asked to "roll it over in case I played the $3k 8 or Better". (I did not). Send me Bank Details please Irene.
"Alan Nice Man". I received the Bank Deets 10 or 14 days ago, & I have tonight paid this by Bank TX.
Plump Bloke. Awaiting totals, as I staked him as well, he played 93 Tourneys & never won a cent....he even managed to lose $200 at $1 - $2 Limit. It should take a fortnight to lose that at Limit.......send me the final bill mate, & I'll send the lot at once.

A month in Vegas means a whole lot of Diary catching up to do.
Will try & reply to all the questions soonest, it was a bit hectic out there, one way & another.
