It's likely a printed programme was published for this 1935 event

There is, although now sold.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-TABLE-TENNIS-WORLD-CHAMPIONSHIP-PROGRAMME-LONDON-1935-PING-PONG-/300764675934?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item4606f8bf5e

I actually used to know the seller who sold this, from my days trading in London around Greenwich & Bermonsey Markets.

If you wants his info Ralph let me know.

Yes, 1935 Doubles!

http://www.ittf.com/museum/WorldChResultsMD.pdf

Silto / Shalson (ENG)
Silto / Shalson (ENG)
Baglow / Wynne (WAL)
3-1
Bellak / Kelen
Bellak / Kelen (HUN)
17, 15, 14
Bellak / Kelen (HUN)

That's a great find guys thank you so much.

I have a table tennis medal of my dad's from 1935/6 that I use as a card-protector when I do get around to playing poker and that was for doubles in the English championships so it does make sense.

I've managed to dig out the old photo and armed with this new information I can now see that it is of two doubles pairs(one half of one being my dad) with a team captain/Fred Perry/maybe even Barna himself in the middle rather than just a team photo which i had earlier presumed.

Unfortunately I haven't a clue how to upload it at the moment but I'm sure we'll find a way.

Take a nice picture of the picture with your iPhone. Use the macro setting (The little flower icon) then message it to me and I'll upload it.

I just did it before I read that and it's a bit blurry almost looks like someone we know might have taken it.

My dad's the one on the left of centre.

Isn't the internet bloody amazing?

10 years ago, this history would have been pretty much lost and inaccessible to virtually everyone in the world.

Now it's a few keywords and a search away to virtually everyone in the world.

I've tried another one from a different angle but I couldn't find the flower icon.

Yes, & many take it for granted.

Pre-Internet - in which I lived most of my life - these things would be nigh impossible to research.

Following that thinly veiled allegation by Methuselah about "blurry" photos, I now have the excuse to post a few more of my Isle of Wight photos. Not a blur in sight, you note...
