Happy Birthday Sir Tony Kendall

Can I pre-order your book somewhere please?

If it ever sees the light of day, it'll be an electronic freebie, I have no illusions that people would actually PAY for it. One or two exceptions, of course......

Please read down as far as David Clarkson. I just did a lol.

Ahh, the old "striker position".

You missed the best of the lot though.

That's THE David Clarkson, known most for playing THE striker position for THE Bristol Rovers, doncherknow.

Never was the definite article less articulately articulated.

I was also playing Bingo with that link. I felt certain you would post a YouTube link of TPau's China in your Hands.

I can't reply to every one, but I'm shocked that some folks like the reminiscing stuff, & touched by the kind comments. Amazingly, I've upset someone already, just be being honest & open. Bleurgh. That was not in the plan at all.

I wanted to write so much more, loads of stuff, but just ran out of time. There'll be some more, but more recent stuff really, Fred & the like.

So, big thanks to.....

Did you know that song is about the novel Frankenstein? (Or The Modern Prometheus, I forget which is the actual title, but you know what I mean)

True story.

I recall as a primary & secondary school kid, I was the oldest lad still wearing short trousers. Short trousers were the thing in those days up to the age of 9 or 10 of course, but I was still wearing them at 13 & 14. Kids being kids, they'd take the pee something rotten, & I'd literally squirm with embarrassment. You don't have to hit a kid to hurt him.

Strange how we remember some things from so long ago. The rankle still rankles to this day. You'll never see me in shorts, that's for sure. Angus Young I ain't.

Hmmmmm - Not sure of your age Mr K but I went to a grammar school in the late 60's and there must have been at least 7 or 8 of us first formers in shorts during the first week.

That quickly changed to me and one other by the start of the second week as peer pressure kicked in - alas alack it took me a good term to convince my mum to get me some long trousers and I was the last in class to get mine for christmas -  boy those winters were cold.

BOOM!

There you have it - peer pressure. As a kid, was anything more powerful? An amazing psychological thing.

It exists strongly in poker, too I would say.

A youngster who gets their first car is as careful as careful can be - until his mates get in the car. Then some weird hidden force talks over, & they have a need to drive like loonies. Sadly, I have a terrible, utterly dreadful story about that, when a lovely young lad who worked for me (30 years or more ago) wanted a car for the weekend, so I loaned him mine. It never occurred to me that because it was a posh motor, he'd want to impress his mates.

Short trousers for boys were worn in my family until your bar-mitzvah(aged 13) when you got your first suit with long trousers, at least that's what they told me.

I was jealous as hell when my little brother got a pair aged eleven, it still rankles to this day.

Seen a few of these lately, just insane staring at the camera.

Eminem having a go at it too.

What's the chance of you pulling this off during a Sky Poker show?  It would have to be with Orford of course.

What ever happened to you real Mom?  My apologies if you've either mentioned her before or would rather not discuss.  Hand history aside, I'm with the many who have really enjoyed your reminiscing over the last few pages.
