Some great new stuff in the diary!!!! REALLY ENJOYED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have taken the under on 3 years since Compo went awol. Scary how time flies. Do you mind if I ask if you plan to see him? You were such good mates but your post kinda suggested that the friendship was a thing of the past now. Feel free to delete this but it's similar to the Boldie story - is there any news on him? (Feel free to mod edit and delete that bit if it's not appropriate).
Also, who is getting Jacks in pre vs you? I want their online nickname pls!!!!!! My range to put all my money in vs you would be the other two Aces. Mind you, since you started talking and playing like Plinop, maybe it's fine.
Couldn't agree more re markups. I think for a while markups just trended higher because people enjoy punting for sweats and then so many people buying meant sellers thought they were too good value at the markups they were selling at and now everyone just sells higher and higher. Fair enough because they know it will sell out but people are kidding themselves with the sort of edges they think they have. People are travelling to new places, with groups of mates, staying in hotels etc, these aren't the best conditions to play your A game. I've bought pieces in a few people lately who are out on the piss, there for the jolly and just there for the rofls, not to take it as seriously as you'd think from their proposals. Another thing is, we all think we're better than we are but most people seem to sell assuming they are always going to play an A game and therefore charge their A game price when in reality, noone plays their A game as often as they'd like. End rant.
Oh and happy bday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seen a few of these lately, just insane staring at the camera.
Eminem having a go at it too.
What's the chance of you pulling this off during a Sky Poker show? It would have to be with Orford of course.

Here's something that may interest you, given your interest in obituaries and your reminiscences of your step-mother.
A woman in Reno died recently, and her children posted the following obituary in the local newspaper.
Quote
Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick born Jan 4, 1935 and died alone on Aug. 30, 2013. She is survived by her 6 of 8 children whom she spent her lifetime torturing in every way possible. While she neglected and abused her small children, she refused to allow anyone else to care or show compassion towards them. When they became adults she stalked and tortured anyone they dared to love. Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit.
On behalf of her children whom she so abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children. Her surviving children will now live the rest of their lives with the peace of knowing their nightmare finally has some form of closure.
Most of us have found peace in helping those who have been exposed to child abuse and hope this message of her final passing can revive our message that abusing children is unforgiveable, shameless, and should not be tolerated in a "humane society". Our greatest wish now, is to stimulate a national movement that mandates a purposeful and dedicated war against child abuse in the United States of America.

Thanks Greek Bloke.
I'll take that in bits if I may. Glad you actually enjoyed some of the stuff. Bet you were jealous of my coup with 5 high?

First, Compo.
I'm not sure, but I'd have it as more like 5 years.
Do I plan to see him? In a heartbeat, if I could. I'd see him this very moment, given the chance. We never fell out, & he's still a friend, though I've not seen or spoken to him since it happened. Yeah, I was uncomfy at the spot it put me in with his family, but that was accidental, not intended. I'd forgive him anyway, I love the bloke.
I no longer have any contact details, all the ones I have are "dead" now.
Our last 'phone call WAS difficult. He rung me from Vegas one day, right out of the blue. I offered to organise a flight home (at my cost) on the next flight, & a few lads at Luton G had organised a job for him in a Betting Shop, which would have helped get him back up & running. So he could go home to his family, he had the fare home, & a job, perfect. But he said his clothes were in storage in Vegas, & he needed a grand to get them out. "
How have you managed 6 weeks in Vegas without your clothes
?" was the obvious question, but we both knew the answer - he needed gambling money, & I raised that bluff, hoping he'd fold. I refused to send him the cash, just an airline ticket. But he just hung up, so yeah, at the time, he might have been a bit cross with me, but we were very close, & I'm certain he knew the score.
Every time I go somewhere for poker purposes everyone asks me - "have you heard from Compo?". I find it all rather uncomfortable, even the memory.
He was a fun Member here, too. He may even be reading this. If so, face the music Dave, you are amongst friends here, folks have done a thousand times worse, & we've all been in a hole at times.
I can't think of a single soul who did not respect him 100%.
As to boldie, I think you were using his name as a point of reference, rather than asking me, but I honestly was not close or involved at all in any of that situation, & I just don't know.
Both cases were pretty sad though. There but for the grace of God & all that.

!
Half the answer is on this page, see the post by "Jac", who was the villain.
Incidentally, Jac's real name is.....Paul Jackson. Not the ENCORE one though.
As he notes, I'd been a bit lively, & had shown down 3-4, 4-5, J-10 & 7-8, three of which I'd three bet pre, though ALWAYS in position.
There was also an unfortunate misunderstanding when me & a lively lad 3, 4, & 5 bet pre, & his K-6 was good against my 3-5. How the hell do these things happen? Testosterone, ego, showing off?
There was another crucial dynamic, too, as there was a genuine maniac on the Table, & he sort of messed with the gameflow, as we were all trying to isolate him. Think he blew over £1,000 (@ £1 £2) in an hour. But he was in an awkward spot for me to get at, too many savvy players were between me & he.
Finally, I had made £600 or £700 profit by now, but greed & all that.....& I had in the back of my mind that if I could win this one, I'd have the spare cash & justification to enter the EPT London PLO8 on October 8th. I'd love to play that, but £500 x 2 (I think it is a re-entry) is a bit too much money to justify.
Anyway.....
As played, I was able to get the last (full pot) raise in, thinking I might get a fold from Jac, as Jac COULD have been making a play against Mr Maniac.
Wrong on all counts. Mr Maniac called with A-5 (!), Jac had
, I missed completely, & a Jack flopped, for good
in the eye
measure.
Losing that much actually made me wince a bit, but even though I lost, I think I played the hand correctly.
He's a great lad, so that eases the pain. A bit......
I really should not play that big in NLH, its not my game at all, but it just happened.
When I go to SPT's I spend all weekend without touching a card sometimes, & I get the itch to play.
Enough excuses? Reckon so.
