Very nicely done Tony.
It's incredible to think that a story as mind blowing as hers hasn't been told in it's entirety, several times over.
I enjoyed the cliffs immensely, but I would love to have all the gaps filled. I wish she had written and published her autobiography, or even some memoirs.
Probably not enough interest though......
Thanks Tom (& Kev).
No, not the sort of thing that interests many, as we can see even in the small world of blonde, but each to their own. I thought she was utterly incredible.
In the book "Snowball" there is a whole chapter on Rose, 12 or 14 pages - I'll pop it in my car boot & drop the book off next time I'm passing.
It's easy to say, or write, she travelled 9,000 miles on a train across Russia & China, but conditions then were terrible, the weather was minus plenty, & trains had no heating.
In America, the wholesalers all took against her, but she refused to be intimidated, she took them on & beat them at their own game.
I would love to have met her.
When I'm having an uphill day, I try to think of people like Rose. Never give up. I do have a little smile to myself when folks say they are
life-tilt
for some minor irritation, or playing poker, or whatever.

Speaking of extraordinary people, I watched this last night.
It's a great "I'm having a bad day" Video.

Yesterday morning I started a sort of "Have a nice weekend" thread next door. Forums, especially those tied to a specific Room, do have a habit of getting a bit moany-woany, & I thought I'd try an experiment. I asked people what plans they had for the weekend.
We got 5 pages of replies, & not a single moan, which must be some sort of record.
Had all sorts of fascinating replies, but the one that caught my eye was a chap who was off to watch, at Buxton, The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain!
Easy to titter, but he is a very successful poker player as it happens, & he scooped a 6 figure sum at DTD last year as I recall. But he has got his poker addiction - & we all have that - nicely under control.
Anyway, that Orchestra.....

And here is "Teenage Dirtbag" as you've never seen it before. Eat your heart out Wheatus.

Another lad lived in deepest Cornwall, & was off to watch his local team - Roche FC - play in the
Cornwall Senior Cup
.
A bit of googling came up with all sorts.
Here's the Dugout at the ground.....
And that big rock behind is "Roche Rock", which is a SSSI.

Should do a thread like that on here. Would be interesting to get a glimpse into the lives of the varied bunch of posters we have on blonde.

Don't think it would work here, blonde is a very different place.
I wanted to get a flavour of how different folks planned to spend their weekend, as well as stemming the interminable moans & groans, but the result amazed me. Very rare for a thread across there to run to 5 pages in a day, (except when the site falls over, or they are moaning about Freerolls!), & there was such a variety of different pursuits & hobbies in the thread. I absolutely loved it.
I had to work it a fair bit, to seed the logic, but I was pleasantly surprised by the good vibes.
I'll probably close the thread shortly, before it turns the other way, lol. 88 Posts & not one chunter, gotta be a record!

I remember hearing the Ukelele Orchestra on radio 1 a couple of years ago when Colin Murray had a show. He had been learning to play and one thing led to another as they tend to on weekend radio.
I learned that there is a Bass Ukelele. No idea why that surprised me.

They are currently touring, next two gigs are in Aberdeen, &
........Shetland.
No idea why that amuses me so, but it does.

What did you wear at Glasters?
Just curious, like.......
8 years ago? You must still have been at school then, surely?

Oh this was in the pre-tweed years, don't think I even wore colourful trousers. In fact, I know it was 2005 now I think given it was one of the wettest of all time and I went with just a pair of trainers. Marv. Cracking fun mind, went another time around then, '07 I think, then again this summer. Bit more civilised this time around, I had wellies and everything.
I'm older than you'd think Teeks, just got a baby-face and a Gary Neville-esque inability to grow facial hair!

2005 was also the biggest attendance. 153,000
sweaty dopeheads who always have a free seat next to them on the bus
eager music lovers. Headlining...Coldplay.
Whoops.
But, Basement Jaxx were replaced by Kylie. How well did you run?!

I was bang at the front for Basement Jaxx, was excellent, if a little 'chaotic'.
