I came across this today

It was news to me, this juxtaposition of greyhound/speedway track with football ground. Both have gone now...

Know which it is?

Is that Battersea Power Station top right?

Hackney was greyhounds/speedway, but I can't think of a football ground adjacent, Orient must be 3 or 4 miles distant.

Haringey also had both, so did Hendon, but cant think of a local football club.

I know you enjoyed your speedway in the past. Did you know the English rider in the Grand Prix's is on the verge of winning the title?

He just has the small matter of broken collarbone to contend with when he rides next weekend.

I did not know until I watched it Live on TV last weekend! And I would never have guessed in a thousand years that he was a Brit by his name - Tai Woffinden .

I looked him up - born in Scunthorpe of all places, but now lives in....Australia. The boy did good!

Seems a plucky sort of chap, & I hope he wins it. Broke his collarbone early in the Meeting, & STILL continued with his rides for the evening.

The great Barry Briggs won the world title 4 times, & I saw the first two Finals, which were held at Wembley Stadium. Proper British name that. It was only after he retired that I discovered he was a New Zealander.

There is presumably a good reason for that wonderful photo of Concorde. Will await with interest.

For added Tikayness, the reason I learned this was because the conductor on the train I was on this morning announced it over the speakers.
