Am resting up this morning, having been up most of the night trying to string 3 words together for my (July) Bluff Europe article, so I'll try & get up to date with replies on the Diary.
Apologies for the delay, it's all go here.

Whilst I'm battling the empty screen syndrome with my July piece for them, here's my Bluff Europe piece for June. I've been promoted to the 9th of the month. Ooohhh.
You don't even have to read it, just click the link. Pretty please?

Another good read. How does Jeeves differ the writing styles with such ease?
Seen you mention a couple of times about the 'stakers' back home, since being out there, on different media platforms. I for one would not give a flying fart if you came back with zero profit. As long as you play and enjoy every game, every venue, every day and every moment out there......that is the main thing. Take the pressure of yourself with thoughts of worrying about your stakers. I know you do care, but try not let that affect your decision making for the rest of the trip.
On that note......don't bother coming back if you don't win one of them trophy or bracelet thingies......
Ha, you rumbled it, Jeeves is my ghost writer.
Losing stakers money? Well, we are all grown ups, were given the full facts before investing, & we did well the last few years, so no, I should not feel bad about it, but it is there, in the back of the mind, it has to be. I literally cannot imagine how fully staked players, who get 5 figures into make-up, exist, it would drive me to distraction, & I'd top myself I think.
It's not a big thing, not at all, but it is there, in the back of my mind. It's a nice feeling to give stakers a bit of profit, most enjoyable, so that's what I want to do.

Am I being ageist-ish?
I'm amazed you've heard of Thom Yorke, nevermind describe him as imperious.

You new to this thread? Tikay knows more about yoof music than most radio 1 DJs (he probably is about the same age as Tim Westwood though)

Well at least I'm not cringing at the thought of Tikay enjoying some Thom Yorke.
Unlike the recent conversation between Boycott and Blofeld on TMS where Boycott admitted to being a massive Katy Perry fan. For a reason I can't place hearing it made my skin crawl.

BOOM!
Thanks Simon.
After I've dribbled off my starting stack in that Limit thing, I'll go play that.
It is not on the stake, ( the PH Omaha) as it was not scheduled, but if peeps want it on the stake, I don't mind either way.
Be pretty sad if I cashed off stake.......
Will try & decide what to do about it being on the stake later today, or I'll accept a ruling from MerePernickity, the Stake Arbiter.

Meanwhile, here in Vegas, tragedy struck on Saturday evening, in a ghastly shootout.

I might be wrong, but roughly speaking, after 18 WSOP Events, the scores on the doors are......
USA 16
Germany 1
Belgium 1
Belgium!

I saw that story and there was a picture with the article but i couldn't figure out what part of town it was in other than it looked a little like between the strip and downtown where the big pawn-shop is.
Ambushed two cops who were minding their own business in a coffee-shop then committed suicide after, wtf?

Think it was North Las Vegas where it happened but the shooters were living near Freemont Street. Freemont is very long and when we drove in from Boulder lots of derelict motels and boarded up homes just 100s of yards from the lights and fun.
very grim events puts being outdrawn in a poker game into context

more from Caesars..
Just finished a Bill Bryson book in which he described the Ceasar's Palace carpet as looking like 'woven vomit'
Which book was that, please?
I've become hopelessly addicted to Bryson's books. They are really just series of little anecdotes somehow grouped under an umbrella title, but I have to read them twice, so as not to miss a word, or any of the nuances, he is so ironic, dry, & understated. Think he uses adjectives & adverbs better than anyone I know.
He is a time sponge, but a worthwhile one.
Meanwhile, if Caesars carpet looks like vomit, what about the Rio carpet?
Reminds me of something, can't quite think what.......

You only have to walk out of the back of Binions downtown and you're about fifty yards from a ghetto. I was crapping myself walking back to Freemont from the old Gambler's Bookshop c1995 and that was in broad daylight.
I remember when I was there with Tom and we were going to leave the big card-room by that back door around dusk and I noticed that there were a couple of scary looking characters lurking about outside, I quickly suggested to him that we go back the other way.

The amazing thing about that Rio carpet is that it's a real mosaic; the pieces are discrete and were put together by hand in the last renovation. They found they were having problems with some visitors - particularly during the WSOP - dropping gum on the carpet and then recording the maintenance/cleaner man steaming it off for immediate YouTubage. Became a bit of an internet game for some, so the Rio decided to nip it in the bud. They ordered twice as much carpet as they needed. Now, all they do is send a bloke out with a yellow triangle and a Stanley knife.
