Would you believe I haven't played that 500 once doobs even though 6max pl hi lo is my favourite game for tournament and only comes a close 2nd fav to caps in cash games.  Haven't played mtts (excluding hypers)outside of scoop wcoop and freeroll supernova for years now I think.  Just don't enjoy them online I think it's a mental patience thing I'm not sure really as I know they are "softer" than cash.   It doesn't make a lot of sense especially when I play live I want tournaments tournaments and tournaments and struggle to focus for long periods playing live cash !

Morning Robert,

I'll reply to your other post later, as I try to reply to stuff in sequence, but whilst I have your attention, are you off to St Maarten again this year?

I ask because whilst doing some research yesterday, I spotted a testimonial from you on the TK Poker Events website, & you said you had been there the last 6 years on the bounce, loved Mullet Bay, da de da.

There were 10 testimonials, & you are the most famous....... Wink

So, Malta next week, then St Maarten? What a life you boys in Cornwall lead......

Haha at the time I wrote that I thought I would go but the Internet is highly unreliable out there and last time was using a usa ip address.  Just don't think I can afford the time off after this trip but it will be a last minute decision around the 15th I guess.

Meanwhile, to keep you all intently amused, I found a cracking website last night, so I thought I'd share these excellent nostalgic photos.

There was a brilliant TV Show on BBC Four late last night about the old Circuses that used to travel around the UK (Bertram Mills, Chipperfields, Billy Smart, & Cottle), & that sent me scurrying to see photos of those wonderful lorries they used.  As kids, it was so wonderfully exciting when the Circus came to town.

...and that, in turn, led me to another site, which kept me up, perusing, cooing & wooing, until nearly 3am this morning, before I eventually retired to bed in a state of some excitement, if not arousal.

British Road Services - BRS - were the fifties, but nationalised equivalent of Eddie Stobart. WeRLorries.

Not sure you do just take the stables off and they balance perfectly.  My eldest struggled for ages and I lost count of the times she asked me to put them back on.  She is growing so quickly I got her a proper bike that is near adult size with 24 inch wheels.  Adult prices too, you can even get your own junior pembleton for £300 or so.  Gave that a miss given she'll need a bigger one in 2 or 3 years.

My youngest has a balance bike.  She has balancing sussed already.  She has spent the summer shooting up and down on it.  Hoping to bypass the stabilisers completely.  Wonderful thing for £25.

Finally, red dog, do you or any of your relatives ever call sweets "spice".  My grandma used to.  How did that ever make sense?

No, but we used to stop with two families, The Hardy's and the Newberry's who both did.

I'm curious, why is that question an 'and finally' to this post? It seems totally unconnected.

That's the best I can do I'm afraid. We haven't got the official photos yet
These are just my Dads snaps.

I'll answer your questions later when I've done the school run.

I was going to put it on the new words thread, but then thought it didn't belong there.  So I sneeked it in here.  Somebody brought it up on facebook and it is a while since I heard it.  I can't see it going down the generations, as I cant think of anybody younger than me who uses it.  It is definitely a Yorkshire thing.

Thank you Lisa, you are a lady of your word, you promised those pics, & they are just wonderful.

Any chance of one of you where we can actually see your face?

How proud you must have been that day.

Did the girls enjoy the occasion, being all dolled up & the centre of attention?

When we exchanged PM's, you said your first priority at the Reception was to ensure you found a TV to watch the Rugby match, England v Wales was it? Did you succeed?

Then, the vey next day, you were off to Wembley, to see the NFL thing. How did that go? Does Peter enjoy NFL?

Yes of course we were both very proud parents that day. Pete, I guess, doubly so with his son getting married as well.  It was a lovely day for my Mum too as I don't think she thought she would ever have grandchildren.

The girls are really girly and love dressing up, they don't like wearing trousers and hate jeans.

The girls woke up at 5am on the morning of the wedding because they were so excited so by the time the rugby came on in the evening Pete and I were shattered. It was England v Australia actually. So we decided to watch it in our room and I think Pete fell asleep before they actually kicked off. My bets were too big to fall asleep. Smiley

The NFL at Wembley the next day was fantastic. Pete played in the poker at the new Wembley, was it last year, but I hadn't been for a few years and it really is quite a venue isn't it ?

Pete had never watched NFL before and so I spent a lot of time trying to explain what was going on  but he thoroughly enjoyed both the occasion and the match and even said he might watch a game on the TV with me.

That's a great picture Rich, I don't know how Petra managed to get all three of them to look at the camera at the same time.

The girls still talk about Max and that holiday and asked to see that photo often.

After seeing the video of Max on his bike I'm going to get Pete to take the girls stabilisers off this weekend. Plasters at the ready.

Err, photos please.Wink

We all vividly remember our very first bike ride without "fairy wheels". That weird moment did not last long, & seemingly, within a minute, we seemed to learn "balance", just like that.

It's extraordinary how fast we learn balance, & it's something - medical conditions apart - we never forget, which is a bit weird really.

I rode a bike recently for the first time in 50 years, and it just came completely naturally.

Anyway, would love to see photos of the look on their faces when they first ride without stabilisers.

Guess twins get expensive - buy one a bike, & you have to buy the other, presumably? What do kids bikes cost these days - £25, £30 a pop?

What happens on birthdays - do they like identical presents, or do you get them different things?

Twins, yes, quite a subject. My Mum treats them both exactly the same, she even counts out grapes and strawberries.  I really don't think it's important that they are treated exactly the same as long as you don't favour one or the other.

Bikes, yes they've both got one, about £100 each if I remember. When I knew I was expecting twins I was adamant that I wouldn't dress them the same. However it hasn't worked out quite like that in practice. If I see something I like and they have the same thing in either a different colour or slightly different design then I'll get that but often there is nothing similar so I think hmmmm  what will Skye wear when Jade wears this because I need something of the same sort of weight for the same weather conditions so often I end up buying the same outfits. Saves a lot of arguments too. Smiley

With regard to presents I generally buy them different things because then they can have twice as much between them. Seems crazy to me having two of the same thing. Obviously some things like bikes they need one each.

Expensive, yes of course, but I waited a long time for them so I had a long time to save up.
