Park run is a 5K, not a 10k.

Google couch to 5k, that might be a good start for you Smiley

On Twitter, I seem to have attracted a bit of a strange "follower".

He has 2 followers, & follow 10 others. This week, he has deluged my Twitter Feed with 62 Tweets, in blocks of 20 at a time. He only Tweets me, & occasionally, Ryan.

Not a hater as such, just, you know, a bit odd, it's just incomprehensible stuff.

One Tweet, in the middle of a series of 20, & in reference to nothing that I could see, he Tweeted this.....

lmao

That was it. "LMAO".

LMAO at what? I've never replied to him, & as far as I know, I don't know him or have never spoken or written about him.

Fair play to him though, this one had me in stitches.

I think you should take up golf again Tony.

There's lovely little 9-hole course in Leicestershire designed by James Braid called charnwood Forest which is the oldest course in the county, well over a hundred years old and I reckon it would suit you perfectly as it has no bunkers at all.

Honestly, I'd love to, Ralph.

Think I need to take a look at myself, & start planning to re-arrange things. That bloody clock just keeps ticking.

Dave Welch used to rock up at Stoke with his missus for like £30 fo's a couple of nights a week 4 or 5 years ago when i used to play there a fair bit when i lived a mile away.  No idea where he was living at the time to turn up weekly at Stoke for such tiny comps.  Tried to tap me up to go into business with him arbing in that time as well at the casino even though i was arbing myself at the time.

Haven't seen him since then probably 3 years ago.  Always assumed he was a cockney/south east based so seeing him regularly at Stoke for bowl comps was quite strange back in that era.  He never played cash either.

If you could go back to being school leaving age again, what job would you like to do?

Assume it's today's world so rule out chimney sweep, steam train driver etc like the first time around.

Amazing.

It certainly amused me somewhat, & to be fair, & I can & do make myself look daft at times. The tweet suggested I am not alone, though, but I somehow doubt he realises that. Anyway, be interesting if it continues.

As it happens, I did a bit of digging, & using forensic fingerprinting of the writing style, I discovered the name of the person making those Tweets.

Pretty convinced it is Tal.

That is a GREAT question, spoiled only be the quite un-necessary reference to chimney sweeps & "steam train drivers", suggesting a bygone age.

We used to have a chimney sweep, & they were exactly as imagined, all blackened by years of removing soot. Their purpose - well obviously, they cleaned the chimney flue - but unless the flue was regularly swept, you got the old "chimney on fire" thing. The chimney sweep used a series of extendable poles to clean the flue.

Now that was always an event on the estate, when a chimney was on fire, belching black smoke, & occasionally flames, too, as all us kids stood & watched in awe. There was never any damage or real danger, of course, the fire was contained within the flue, but always a great excitement to us kids.

Probably the 2nd most exciting thing for us kids at the time to the trolleybus stays coming off the overhead wires. Now that WAS a great sight to behold.

So, back to the question.

First up, National Service. Not fussed which one, probably Navy, but any really. The Army might work, too, the "spit & polish" appeals, & the self-discipline they instil. ALL kids should do National Service imo, I certainly wish I had.

After that?

Well being a pro sportsman would be the nuts, & if so, the choice is easy - pro golfer. Their career, typically, can endure for up to 40 years, & they earn pots of money. Dear old Jim Furyk, who I adore, as he plods round every week with his trusty caddy, has earned - in golf winnings alone, excluding endorsements & the like - $70 million.

The lifestyle is good, too, most of the Tour is held in beautiful weather, & you get too see plenty of nature on the golf course.  Grass & trees in abundance are one of life's great luxuries.

Non-sports?

Something a bit edgy, I suppose, one of these guys who are a bit dark & mysterious, such as an on-track bookmaker, or a "scrap metal dealer". A night person, with no obvious income, but always flashing the cash.

I used to go to Greyhound Racing every night at one time, & I used to stand & stare, in complete awe, at the rails bookies, in their posh crombies & fancy dan hats (always at a jaunty angle, obv), counting wads of £10 notes. I so wanted to be that man. Yes, would love to have done that, coolest job ever.

I used to - still do - be in awe of drummers in rock bands, too. Always the drummer. Oh yes, I could be the drummer in Squeeze, Eagles, Chili Peppers, Floyd, & most of all, Aerosmith.

Any job except a 9-5 affair, really. Never had a 9-5 job, always had a flexible hours thing, & as a Manager I loved MBWA.
