West Brom keeper John Osborne having a ciggie during a league game in '72.

Was he taking time out from his other job with Black Sabbath?

I think it's more a case of penguins being much much smaller than we imagine them to be.

Yes. They are definitely massively smaller than they were when I was a lad.

Something not quite right about the term massively smaller.

Yes, I sensed something nirvane-esque about it. I avoid tangling with him, way too erudite for me.

Nirvana is to erudition as Norman Borlaug is to wheat.

Up to about 11.5 ft - so big buggers. Only one recorded case of them killing someone, a snorkeller was dragged about 70m deep.

I do miss the old pounds, shillings & pence. Saw this today on Danny Baker's Twitter;

Last echoes of a vanishing way of speech. Talking of a record he should have bought, friend of mine just said,

"Bloke on the stall wanted 4 and 6 for it but I only had 3 and 8 and he wouldn't budge."

Folks under 30 would have no idea what that meant.

Ha, I wondered who'd be in first with that. I had Marky as 1/3 favourite.

Don't flatter yourself. My 40yos don't know what it means.

They can't work out why he needs an extra 10 pence to make 3 and 8 into 4 and 6.
