The Sky Train is gathering speed.

I gather they've hooked up with Poker Project to be a partner in the Poker Project "pub poker" thing. It's one hell of a coup for Poker Project, as Sky are very careful who they partner with, & it kinda puts the best with the best. I believe the details are on the Poker Project website.

As to Sky, well, they've worked out that the market for the lower buy-in recreational players is huge & has been largely ignored by the major Online Operators. And Sky'll take some catching in that market now. I suppose it needs saying that I'm biased, as I do a bit of work for Sky, but I can't help but admire the way they've moved into the market so efficiently.

The future's bright. The future's Blue.

And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day.

I definitely think you should play and in PR speak give them "a paradigm shift in the coverage of poker"

Play it, play it. And if you win and still feel bad about it, you can always donate a little to all the sick animals (there are plenty on blonde  ).

That looked like a good deal for both parties (I started off by playing PP, before starting to play for cash). Should be interesting to see how this gets on.

Today's Poker Update.

Went to Stanley Notts, waste of time, only 19 runners for a £50 Freeze at 8pm, they paid down to 9th, who woulda got £30! Somehow my heart was not in it, & I was back home by 9.30pm.

Played 7 hands, lost them all. Here are the interesting ones.

I think they will struggle to be taken seriously if they pay 9 places with 19 entries. Pity as Gala need an opposition.

Today was one of those days when it was downhill all the way, wind behind, sun shining, & a nice straight road.

Set off for London just after 9am, & got a heap of work done in the Office. The atmo there is lovely, I could happily "work" there evey day.

At 6pm, I went to dinner with a lovely young lady. Hardly candlelight & fine wine, it was the Sky Canteen, Omelette & Chips, cup of tea, but hey, I've not dined with a young lady for a while, & it's one of my favourite pastimes. I love bright, intelligent female company, & I really enjoyed the break, I tend never to relax or chill, & I never have meals when I'm at home.

Next, get ready for the Show, so I had a lovely shower in my dressing room, make up at 7.45. then wardrobe, into the Studio at 8.10 sharp, & we were done by just after Midnight. Sean Boyce has more talent than many realise, & we had two really interactive Guests.

Had 3 nice calls during the afternoon, too. Flushy called, bright as a bean, & off to Goodwood on Saturday with Paul Parker, as Blue Square Guests. Flushy has lost it, he accused me of having a false image as a "rock". Ridiculous.

Then Dena called, there may be a bit of TV work for her, & she was in good form, she really is a smashing kid. Michelle Orpe rung, too, from Sweden, where she's working. Typical Essex girl, bubbly & bouncy.

Back home by 3am, & the APAT Luton & Season 2 News had been Posted during the late Evening, & early reactions, with the oh-so predictable exceptions, were very positive. Des has worked incredibly hard to deliver this deal, & it's a corker, with even more Added-Money & player opportunity than last year. What astonishing progress APAT is making, & nobody (well almost nobody) could argue with that. Well-structured, low buy-in, deep-stack, added money, No-Juice Tourneys are here to stay, & the APAT copycats will soon be out in force, a compliment indeed. But they'll do well to deliver the important bit - the Community spirit that the APAT Members have, & the fact that the players reallly are looked after well at APAT Events. Most of the better ideas floated during Season Two have been added, too. Too many to mention here, but Des can be very proud of the Deal he's cut.

I missed most of the Walsall Fessie as I sort of messed up my Diary, my "work" dates fell badly, & I've managed the same trick with next week's Luton Fessie, at my lucky Venue. But I can't have it both ways, & playing less Fessie Events has been good foir my game & my results I fancy, & anyway, I thoroughly enjoy my Sky work. Calke & eat it spring to mind.

I am playing the DTD Hunt The Pro thing on Monday, so I can't do Luton that day, & in any case, I'm not sure a £200 + £200 + £200 30 minute clock jobbie represents value for my game. Tuesday's corking £500 Double Chance is out too, as it's a 2 dayer, & I'm working Wednesday night at Sky, so that's Wednesday's Omaha out of the window too. So I may as well play the Main Event, even though I had been thinking about not playing too many big Events.

So I might go down to Luton on Saturday (today) for the £100 Freeze. I'm at Cardiff on Sunday, for their excellent £250 Freeze, & Poker Week, & Poker Week have booked The Millenium Stadium on Monday to do the reaction chat, which should be interesting. So another full weekend in prospect, happily.

The Foot & Mouth outbreak in Surrey is devestating news, It's a virus that's hard to control once it gets hold, & 7 million cattle were slaughtered because if it in the last outbreak, in 2001. Let's hope it is contained quickly this time., The Farmers were compensated for all their slaughtered cattle, which I have never managed to get my head round. In any other business, the business would have to bear the cost itself, directly or via Insurance, what on earth does it have to do with the Government?. Very strange, I never understood that at all. No doubt, there will be blanket coverage of it in the Newspapers & TV News, as there was with the British floods a few weeks back. But for perspective, the current flooding in South-East Asia is worth a thought.

20 million - million - dispaced from their homes.

3 feet of rain fell in parts of India in July. Three Feet!

River Levels are as much as 10 metres above normal.

Tens of thousands will die, from dreadful disease mainly.

It'll be off our Front Pages within 48 hours at most. Next weeks front pages will, if anything like this week's, be dominated by Pete Doherty begging Kate Moss to return, the horror of a shark off Cornwall, & who's gonna be evicted from Big Brother. Floods in Asia are not good for newspaper circulation, apparently.
