Did it look like this? http://www.hawkquest.org/mews/Mature%20Male%20Harris'%20Hawk.jpg

Took my Dad on a day's rabbit hunting with 2 Harris hawks, and a couple of ferrets a while back. They are incredible hunters - with no fear when chasing their quarry. we all flinched when one piled into a bramble thicket on the tail of a rabbit - I was convinced it had broken its wings - but that was the brambles cracking I'd heard. She (falconers tend to prefer females as they're usually bigger and stronger than the mal, called a tiercel) got the rabbit.

Yes, much like that, but I'm sure it's beak or bill was black, & I think it was male.

I'll chase Rhow for the pics, & Post them here, as I'd like to know exactly what it was.

Foot & Mouth outbreak. After pondering the evidence for almost a week, the DEFRA boffins issued a startling report today. "There is a strong possibility that it originated at the Pirbright Animal Research facility". Bright boys them DEFRA lot, eh?

And in the "nothing's changed" department, Pete Doherty was in court yet again today, & walked out a free man, awaiting "reports". If they don't lock him up pretty darn soon, it's gonna end in tears. He looked awful today, & is a sick, sick, individual. I wish him no ill or harm, even though I'm no fan of him or drugs, but he needs protection from himself.

Sunderland paid £9 million for a goalkeeper from Hearts - how much? The Hearts Directors must have thought it was a practical joke when Sunderland said £9 mill! "Err, OK, but only if you insist" they said, briskly banking the cheque. I fancy Mr Keane, like many brilliantly gifted footballers before him, will not last too long in top-class Management, but probably long enough to bankrupt his employers first.

Poker. My long-overdue spell of negative variance is gathering momentum, & I could not do a thing right today. Spent $900 on Online Tourneys & never cashed once. No particular bad-beats, just "form", or lack of it.

Another comical exit when I turned the nut flush on the 3-3-9-6 board, for an absolutely monster pot in the $250 jobbie, & three of us shovelled our stacks in as fast as fast can be. The River paired the 6, & BOTH of them were holding a three......

And in Omaha cash, I was $800 down at one stage, but I've grinded away, & am currently $600 ahead. I may yet get out of trouble.

Flushy was in good shape overnight to take down the £200 at Luton, & he was desperately keen to win it. But it all went horribly wrong in the Final, & 5th was a disappointment. He lost a 555k Pot earlier, & there was to be no coming back. He rung again this evening, from the Bar at Luton, where he & The Camel were, apparently, watching me on Telly, Poker Week I guess, to the amusement, even mirth, of the viewers by the sound of the laughter eminating over the 'phone line. Mirth at my blathering dodderyness rather than my rapier-wit, he seemed to suggest. Pfft.

Got a nice invite from Andy Pyrah today, to attend a Press Lunch next Monday in London for the WSOP-E. Should be pretty boring, these things generally are, but all the usual Media freerollers (yup, count me in) turn up, mainly for the Media Freeroll.  Poker Week will be there, Compo & me "in the chair", so that's my excuse. The Freeroll is for a $800 seat in a proper WSOP-E satellite, & if pevious experience is anything to go by, will be a 1,000 chip 10 minute Blind affair. It's an oddity that Media Freerolls & Women's Tourneys are almost generally stunningly rapid structures. Very odd. Hopefully, after that, Compo will "persuade" me to go find a nice Tourney somewhere in London, maybe The Sportsman, & we'll have a little fun together, he's great company.

Today was a day off, but I answered about 70 e-Mails, it's amazing how many come in. And that's without the Viagra ones. Oddly, I only had one PM all day, though it was a landmark one - my 8,000th in 2007. And I only type with one finger!

Gala have moved the date of their GBPT Season Finale (in Bristol), to avoid a clash with the GUKPT, and instead it now clashes with the MasterClassics in Amsterdam, which has attracted some mocking comment, but I don't really think there is much crossover between those two. There are just no blank dates in the Poker Diary these days.

Back to work in the morning, I set off bright & early in the car for London, & am doing the Sky Show in the evening. I then stay overnight, & go across London on Thursday morning to rail Chili in her Ladies World Open thing. Thursday night, I hope, some Live Poker somewhere, & Friday I play the Luton GUKPT, after a midday meeting in Luton. I hope to do better in the GUKPT than last time, when I busted out before the first break in Brighton. On current form, I'd not bet on it.
