he used to have a ferrari.

Gary Glitter had a Ferrari?

Seriously, yes, I recall that - I believe he crashed it spectacularly one night, sans insurance if I recall correctly. In fact, I think it was someone else's Ferrari, now I think back. The worm has turned.

I must say, I adore playing Omaha, & in the Luton Dealers Choice game, we play 4, 5 or 6, High, or Hi-Low.

In Hi-Low, if you can catch a big "scoop" (both High & Low Pots) once or twice a night, it makes all the difference to profit & loss, & it's a case of waiting for the moment - hole cards & flop - to arrive, then go for it.

I had just such a hand last night, & it was the moment of the night for me, with some £1,200 in the middle. The problem - if problem it be, was that my Opponent was Murray Brown, & Murray knows exactly what's what. But the hand played itself, & I knew EXACTLY his holding, because, by default, he's solid, & could have nothing else.

I'm holding this.....

  Two Clubs

And we see this mouth-watering fliop.....

Murray bets, I shovel some more in, Murray comes with me, & there's a huge pile of cash in the middle.

He is almost certainly on the nut low draw, which is fine, he's gonna get quartered. I hope....

The turn completes the coup.....

Bingo bango bongo, I'm home & hosed, our hands are already on their backs.

In fact, another 5 rivered, & he housed up with running fives, & it was me who got quartered!

But that's neither here nor there - Omaha is such a fascinating game, & I'd play it all the time if I could. If I could play it, that is......

Happily paid. Sort of.....Wink

But really, catching dream flops & turns like that gives me a real buzz, I guess it's why we play the game. I'd remember it the same whether it won or lost tbh.

Thanks Graham. Sadly, I've been blown away by work (& play) the last 2 weeks, but I'm back now, & intend to get the Diary back up to date.

I'm "off" today, & have to go to Dublin tomorrow (Saturday) for Poker Week, & fly back on Sunday night. I've got two Shows next week for Sky (Wednesday & Saturday), I am due to film a Christmas Promo for Sky on Tuesday, & I am at Bristol on Sunday next for Poker Week. That apart, I'm free all next week, so expect plenty more blathering.

As the current Chairman of APAT, I'm naturally expected, & supposed to be, at all APAT National Events, but I will not be at Walsall this weekend, I'm extemely sad to say. I am contractually committed to be in Dublin with Poker Week, & on the next APAT Event in Manchester, I shall be in Paris with Poker Week for the 2007 European Poker Awards.

When Poker Week began, I was asked the question - would I commit to 52 shows per year? The question was rhetorical really, if I wanted the job, I had no choice. And I wanted the job. I take the honouring of my Contracts very seriously, (currently with Poker Week & Sky Poker) just as I take my APAT Duties seriously. But something had to give eventually, & it did.

Previously, I'd ducked & dived & somehow got away with it. On some occasions, the PW peeps allowed me to do the recordings on the Monday, at other times they actually agreed to cover the Event to which I was committed for APAT, or blonde. (In the case of blonde Bashes). A win-win if ever I saw one.

But the wheels came off this time, & there's nothing I can do about it.

I communicated with Des at APAT, & said that if my non-availability compromised my position as Chairman, I'd fully understand, but he remains supportive, for which I'm relieved & grateful. As it happens, the APAT Members will soon be voting for the role of APAT Chairman, (or is that ChairPerson?), so what will be will be, & the Members will decide.

So there it is, a big APAT Event, & I won't be there. Bugger.

I wish all the APAT-ers the very best of luck in Walsall, & I can honestly say "I wish I was there".

I have a Facebook site - Heaven knows why - but I'm entirely passive, I simply "accept" "Friends" & pretty much leave it at that. It's handy for keeping in touch with some folks, but one can live without it very comfortably. Especially as to the Facobook specialities, such as throwing a goldfish or whatever at your virtual friends. I mean, really, what's that about? How sad does one need to be to think that's funny or interesting? Facebook reminds me of Christmas Cards, so many do it simply because others do it, & one cannot be left out, now can one? And, as it happens, I've not sent or given ANYONE a Christmas Card for over 20 years.

But wait a minute - whats this I read, yesterday?

OAP über-brand Saga has today dusted off its own social network aimed at the over-50s.

Saga Zone has been in beta for four months, and so far boasts 13,000 members. It's "a new online community where you create a whole new social network of friends and easily stay in touch from the comfort of your home". There's nothing to stop under-50s registering, should they be so inclined.

It has the usual friend-making, photo-sharing and blogging features familiar to the modern internet time-waster.

According to Ofcom, over-65s online clock up 42 hours a week online each.

Saga Zone marks another new venture for the former holiday club, which has enjoyed rapid expansion as the baby boom generation comes of age. It now offers insurance and other financial services too.

While it's easy to deride Saga Zone with pensioner-based punnery (take a bow, the Financial Times: "If you want to get in with the gin crowd..."), consider this: older people have a lot of time on their hands, money to burn, and - if you believe antiques scammers - they're gullible.

In short, they're the perfect web 2.0 target market. They make the penniless students populating MySpace and Facebook look like advertising poison.

However, with its demographic, we expect Saga Zone's death churn rate will be slightly higher than their like

Perhaps we can all throw our incontinence pants at each other, eh?
