Why should a player deserve an extra cap? Capello's got to build a new team looking towards next season when the qualifying starts for the World Cup, Beckham's highly unlikely to play in that so he has earned 99 caps & that's a fair achievement.

He's not highly unlikely to play. He offers something that no other England player can do consistently, namely deliver pinpoint crosses. Against teams who are vulnerable at the back, Beckham feeding crosses onto Crouch's head (no matter what you think of the two players) is a viable effective strategy. Beckham may not be an automatic team selection, but he should be a crucial squad member.

Until another player seizes the position convincingly, you can't just say to Beckham 'no more England for you'.

AARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!    This thread's gone all BBC1.

back to bbc4 subjects...

did you know the following...

Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming was ring-fenced as a wilderness in 1872

Sadly man still got involved. First the powers that be thought that the elks were about to become extinct so they shot the wolves and banned Indians from hunting

Soon there were son many elk they started eating the trees that the beavers used to make dams, so the beavers left the park

Without dams the meadows suffered, the trout and otter died out and soil erosion became a huge problem. Exacerbated by roaming elk eating all the grass

So they started shooting elk by the thousand, and re-introducing wolves!!

Michael Crichton, State of Fear..good book!

AARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!    This thread's gone all BBC1.

Worry not Tom, I'll be at your place at about 1pm, & on the journey we'll discuss proper things then. Horses, trains, bridges, tractors, fifth-wheel trailers, ducks, the phenomonen of motorway coffee, rookery's, & the price of eggs.

We will leave the England Team selection to the Tabloids, it's their job. Boldie got it spot on, & he's Dutch, ffs.

Oh, & when I get back, I'm gonna Post two pictures of the most beautiful, & most ugly, buildings in Britain - St Pancras Station/Hotel, & the British Library. What an oddity that Barlow's masterpiece, & that monstrosity, are, quite literally, next door to each other. How did that come to happen?

OK, Brighton here we come, & there will be a Tourney Report from there, too. If I survive long enough. But I should, as Tom & me are uber-rocks, (a very bad thing, apparently, much frowned-upon by those in the know), we just play Aces & Kings. It's true, I read that on blonde last week, in the DTD Live Update debate.

Football has changed over the years and now you need to be a supreme athlete to compete at the top, unfortunately Beckham no longer possesses any pace and hasn't for 4 or 5 years now to be considered good enough to get into a top team be it club or country hence he now plys his trade in the good ole u s of a. He's been training with the Gooners and if he had another couple of yards of speed in his locker then I'm sure Mr Wenger would have looked to take him on loan for the next  3 months but I doubt if he could even get into our Carling Cup team with his lack of pace.
Capello should do whats best for English football and the future and start building from now. Why hasn't Beckham got 100 caps by now probably his own fault if you look back on his early career and his disciplinary record so we can't even blame the wally with the brolly for not allowing Becks to get to 100.

When was Yogi Bear introduced to Yellowstone ?

Yogi was brought in early in the 20th century to make sure "Old Faithful" started on time. Before that, she was known as "Old Unreliable".

did beckham ever have real pace? His strengths were dead ball situations and crossing. Cant recal him going past a player or two at pace and whipping in a cross? Maybe i'm wrong? Dont see much difference in the Beckham of 10 years ago and now.

Something I've today discovered, to go along with such ironies as the fact that dyslexia is difficult to spell, and abbreviation is a long word, is that the name for the condition which makes the letter r difficult to pronounce is rhotacism.
