What you need is a privet secretary.
That's a bit near the hedge Tom.
Have you ever visited, by the bye, a "Box Garden"?
Yes, theres one in that place near Stratford on Avon that I can't think of.
BTW- I have three box trees at my place. Did you notice them?

No, I never recognized them as "box", because I've only ever seen "Box Gardens" all neatly trimmed & symmetrical. To be honest, I'm not a Box Garden fan. They remind me of clipped poodles - not quite right, as it were.

That would be the Ettington Park Hotel in Alderminster, Tom, which I've been fortunate to stay in on several occasions. Has a large Box Garden. The House is the ancestral seat of the Shirley Family, & they've owned the land upon which it sits since 10xx.
It's now a beautiful County House Hotel, with Riding Stables attached If I recall correctly. It has extensive woodland nearby, & is idyllic.

You'd think with all their money they could afford a new house.

Orite tikay. are you coming to this months £300 double chance at walsall so u can try to make it 2 in 2 final tables lol. And try to play AK better lol
I'm sorry to say I can't be there on Saturday, as I'm working Saturday night.
But I think Red-Dog (Tom McCready) will be there.
It's just about the best, scheduled, Monthly Tourney on the Circuit over the last few years, & I'm very sad to miss it yet again. But Grosvenor don't help, scheduling it & the Luton Fessie at the same time. Both events will suffer, as a result.
Anyways, go get it won mate. And if the Mardy-Arse is Seat 1 gets up to his antics again, do what you did last time - keep cool, & stick it right back up him. The loud-mouths go very quiet when they get it back up 'em.
I shall be at DTD on Sunday, though, for their £100, & I hope you will consider coming cross to DTD next weekend, for their very own £300 monthly jobbie - it's beautifully structured. That I AM able to play, & I'l be there. I'll buy you a drink if you make it. Have you ever tried Egg Benedict?

We had Bruno Fitouissi on the Sky Show last night, & he was absolutely stunning as a Poker & "fun" Guest, & one of our best-ever Guests. If you can catch some of th re-run, it's well worth a look.
I could not get a Hotel in Luton or Feltham - I left it too late to book - & as I am staying down South for a few days - I'm playing Luton tonight, & maybe Friday, & working again on Saturday - I eventually booked into the Days Inn at the bottom of the M1, at Scratchwood Services. It's maybe half way betwen Feltham & Luton, so it almost makes sense.
So I finished at Sky at about 1am, & set off for Scratchwood. More Tom-Tom problems meant I drove straight past the Hotel - literally - & found myself in Luton, 20 miles furrher north, for the Cash-Action. Sensibly, I only stayed until 6am, & by the time I joined the southbound M1 road-works crawl, it was 7am when I reached the Hotel. I need my head tested.
So, it's a short hop up the M1 tonight for the Luton £250 (+ 1 rebuy OR add-on), then back down to here. Friday, I hope, rinse, repeat, & then Saturday, back to Sky. I'm going straight home after the Saturday Show, & will play the DTD £100 on Sunday night I imagine.
I had not planned to play Luton's splendidly-structured £500 on Friday, as it's a 2 dayer, & I am working on Saturday. But a thought-train started last night. It won't have many runners I don't think. So it could even finish in one day, or at most, bring back one Table on Saturday. Which would start at 2.30. I don't need to be at Feltham (45 mins away) until 6pm-ish, at a push......
Meanwhile, on the work front, I am slipping further & further behind with my e-Mails & PM's, they seem to come in droves, & I'm just overwhelmed by the quantity of them. This is depressing me a bit. Once I get behind, it's very hard to pull back up to date. I think I ought to take a little break from poker, & get myself back up to date. I've not even sorted December's Invoices yet, & there's heaps of other stuff to sort.
So I've made a snap decision, & I'm gonna take a break from poker for a little while. All day Tuesday, I think.

Ice-Cream, Popcorn, Cigarette Substitute?
The smoking ban must be hurting the Casino Operators big time.
Luton G have huge banners all over the place, & half-hourly PA announcements.
"Buy SUPER-SMOKER, the ideal Cigarette substitute, ON SALE AT THE BAR".
And every hour, a little man comes round, showing players an artificial cigarette. It's battery-powered, contains nicotine, & even emits what appears to be smoke, but is actually water vapour. I gather it tastes putrid. An excellent substitute for the real thing, then. It costs, I think, £30, & has enough "content" to replace, they say, 10 packs of cigarettes.
But.....
Some loon has decided to dumb-it down even further, by adding a little glowing red light to the "burning" end, so it looks like it's actually alight.
And they expect grown-ups to buy that......because it has that lttle glowy-light thing on the end.
For God's sake, how stupid do they think we are?

Casino drop (Gross) has been hammered by the smoking ban, with no sign of a recovery yet
Bingo clubs worse
There is currently a big campaign to make Bingo clubs VAT exempt too with dire warnings of closures if VAT is levied.

You mean people who spend £6 for a pack containing 20 cancer-causing sticks of tobacco, and who go to any end to fulfil their addiction?
Probably very.

but smoking is cool..I see people standing outside the office now, holding an umbrella when it's very windy and very cold and snowing like mad...but they are loving it.
Man I wished I still smoked

We (Sky) had hoped to get Thewy on next Friday's "Primo", but he's gallavanting across to Germany for the Dortmund EPT, but he'll be on Sky Poker quite soon, I promise.
Instead, I think we've found a pretty good - make that superb - Guest, in Lucy Rokach. She agreed, on the proviso that she could insult me all night. Neverends.
I continue to be amazed at Thewy's final hand call last Sunday wth pocket Fives, against an ultra-tight Opponent, who'd re-re-Raised all-in, having twice checked down the nuts or 2nd nuts earlier. It was a massive call. But Thewy's views was, well, "I still had 300k or so behind, & if it goes tits up, well, I'll move those 300k aroiund big-time, & will soon get back in it". Oh to be half-so confident, & a tenth so good.
I discussed this play with Lucy today. The young guns may not have the respect for Lucy us older guys have, but her Live Game record is a bit special, believe me. And aggressive......Her view was she makes the call with fives in a heartbeat. "I don't like investing chips in a pot & then Passing" said the Goddess of Poker.....Jen, Chili, Bev, Ding
et al
are setting the pace these days, but they've gotta go some to catch Lucy up.

I think the young guns respect Lucy, it's just that they don't respect her current game, and from what we've seen of late, I can understand why. Poker is about the now for me, and in that sense I don't think 'catching up' has much meaning. Plus, you seemed to have moved into gender categorising here, which neither Lucy or Jen will probably like. They want to be seen as poker players, not female poker players, which seems fair to me.
Lucy
Rokach
was a great poker player, regardless of gender, (she may still be today, we don't know). Jen is a great poker player now and I doubt she's bothered about 'catching Lucy up' to become the best female player.
