President Bush was in the UK this week, & was ferried around in "Marine One", the Presidential Helicopter. Well, make that plural Helicopter, because there are no less than 26 "Marine One"s.

They cost $400 million. Each.

They are changing from the current VH-3D to VH-71's, the VH-71 will cost $400m, the aircraft in the picture is a VH-3D and costs a whole lot less.

Accepted - the pic is an old one, but the new ones, currently on order, come in at $400 million apiece. There's a bit of a hoohah about the cost of them going on right now, too.

Apparently, Air Force One - of which there are only two (747-200B's), cost less than $400 million each, so that 'copter price is eye-watering.

They are only designated "Air Force One" or "Marine One" (these are call-signs) when the President is on board though. When the Vice-President is aboard, it/they become Air Force Two.

I suppose the American Presidency is their equivelant of our Royal Family, so it kind of makes sense.

Lost my car keys, bit of a mystery how, but it's buggered everything up. Was supposed to meet some friends in London tonight, had to cancel, & I'm stranded in Luton, with my car in the adjacent Car Park.

I've got John Grice - "Regards" - on the case, he's being very helpful, but it's all very complicated. BMW insist they want sight of the Log-Book before they get me a replacement key, fair enough, but it's at home......John is trying to sort it so that a new key is delivered to me tomorrow. Pah.

No, searched that. I parked the car next door, in the Car Park, & have not used it since Tuesday. I took the train when I went to London yesterday, & walked to the Luton-G last night. A mystery.

Regards has just rung, he'll have a new key by tomorrow, in Leicester, & I'll jump a train first thing in the morning to collect it. Thank the Lord for Regards.
