The saga of my keys continues.
I stayed over in Luton last night - no choice - & had no clean clothes or anything - they were all safely locked in my car, 50 yards away.....
I was up at 0700, & safely caught the 0752 from Luton (4 car Meridian plastic jobbie) to Leicester.
Regards was waiting for me at Leicester Station in his Beemer Estate, drove me to Sytners, & collected the new key, which had been overnight couriered from Germany. So scarily efficient them German guys.
Regards then took me back to Leicester Station, & I jumped the 10.02 (another Meridian, dammit, I missed the HST by 4 minutes) back to Luton.
Straight to the Car Park, tried to open the car - no joy, eek!
Rang Regards, he said manually unlock it (pfft, manually unlock it, I'm on telly), I said no, it will set the alarm off. Do as I say says Regards.
I do as he says, open the door, the alarm goes off.
Stick the key in the ignition & start her up says Regards, & I do, & it does, & the alarm stops, heaven.
A quick sprint then down to Feltham, where we had a big Meet about Vegas, & then I do the Primo tonight.
I gotta stay over tonight, due to a complication with Stage 17 of the key saga. I lost my house keys, too. So it's no good me arriving home at 4am & trying to force entry into my house, I might get arrested. So I've organised a Locksmith to meet me at my place at 9am Saturday morning, & hopefully, that will be that sorted. Jeez. All my fault, I've paid a big bill in stress, money & time - and I've got nobody but myself to blame. Bugger.
All being well - not taking that for granted - I'll play the
DT
D
£200 on Saturday, if I can lay my hands on some cash. I got no cash? That's another story....I really have made a bit of a mess of things this week. I had to "cancel" all my plastic, as I thought they might have been stolen, or compromised, when the keys, err, "disappeared". (I'm not telling the whole story here - yet - as it now seems I never actually "lost" my keys, some dodgy-wodgy argy-bargy went off apparently). Still, my new "plastic" should arrive in a few days - maybe in time for Vegas. FFS.
Then on Sunday, it's back to Feltham, Monday too.
A huge thank you to Regards, he's been absolutely fantastic. When an inate understanding of Customer Service, & boyish enthusiasm, combine in one guy, he's always gonna retain his Clients for a very long time. I'm due to change my car soon, & Regards already has the order.

Aces I imagine......
No, but Tom will tell the story (properly?) when he gets back online.

Ton did tell me the story of an absolutely whopping hand in yesterday's Event.
It's Raise all-in, Re-Raise all-in, & call all-in, (AK, KK, QQ, I think Rana had the Kings) but now an old boy round the back, not paying attention, says "Call".
They say it's all-in, & he''s not a happy bunny, but he's, quite correctly, forced to call. With A-6 off.
No, he did not hit running sixes. Or an exotic straight. Or chop it. He 4-flushed it. And took the lot, busting 3 players. Game of skill, this poker, eh?
Be careful what you wish for.

Front row, fourth right? I don't think so, but I can't quite tell what it is really. It sort of looks like a hatchback - which were not invented in those days - or maybe an Estate Car.
But you could be right, I just can't see it very well. I must order some new eyes.

Thanks for the nice words Tikay.

"dodgy-wodgy argy-bargy"
Did you get into an impromptu game of footie with a couple of Spaniards outside the casino a la Flushy ?

Tom (Red) just rung from Bristol, there had been a bit of hoohah on his Table.
One player, in the hand pre-flop, but yet to act, had his cards accidentally mucked by the Dealer. It's not clear if they were "protected" or not, but it's not really relevant in truth.
He hollars "oi" & asks for his cards back.
Dealer says "ok, what were they?, whisper them to me"......
At which, as you can imagine, there is something of a mass protest by the rest of the table. So the Floor are called.
Floor says "fine, he can have them back, what were they, whisper them to me".
And the player did. And he did get them back.
I must try that one.
Anyway, Red is on 16k, Thewy 14k, Blinds go 200-400 next, & RA's emerge, too.
No way!! This has got to be one of the worst ever ruling's at a high profile tournament.
indeed..that's awful...the sort of thing you don't even find in a 5'er rebuy anywhere.
Well it is Gala after all....
Far more importantly, how many glasses of red wine has Tom had and has Julie caught him up yet ?
Sorry Ralph, I missed this one earlier.
Tom rung again, but I missed the call.
I would surmise that there will be Chip, & Red Wine, inflection points about mid-evening. For sure, Thewy will build up his Red-Wine stack, but the Chips could well go Tom's way.

Not exactly Ralph, this was rather more cunning & discrete, in that I was absent at the time.

And that prompts a fascinating question which few of us have ever thought about. And which I will address later, as I gotta go now, doing Primo in 11 minutes. (Code for I've forgotten the fascinating qurestion).

I learned (learn't?) an enchanting new word today, though I might struggle to slip it into a regular conversation at the poker table. But I'm gonna try.
The chick/bay of a puffin is a.........
puffling
. Never heard that before, but if you heard the word "puffling" you'd know what it was, so the word fits just right.
Here's a hand-reared puffling about to be released into the wild. I'm not entirely sure why the handler is trying to squeeze it to death though.

Car key - sorted. (Regards).
House key - sorted. (Locksmith).
Just one more thing to sort, & it's job done.
A lesson learned the hard way.
