I saw this sign today, at Caesars, it's beside the magnificent "Sports Betting Parlour".
Note the Regulation # - how many Regulatiions must they have?!
It reminded me of the R & A (Golf) Rule Book, which many golfers carry with them, it's a nightmare, but so necessary. Luckily, most golfers "self-police", as do snookerers, though I did encounter golf cheats occassionally, usually Handicap Bandits. Which reminds me of a story, but maybe that's for another day.

Saw this sign in Vegas today - surely not the "Osmonds" Donny & Marie? If so, wow, they've done well to survive for so long.
Still, it is Vegas.

I Posted a Pic a few days ago of the Main Event Tables which had been plonked in the Casino end of The Rio Corridor, which I thought was a bit out of order.
The next morning, they had all gone, & been replaced, to my amazement, by a bank of over 80 Slots. They were all identical Video Poker Slots.
They are now holding "Tournaments" at these Slots. Every single seat is taken, at all 80 Slots, & I'm not sure how you win, but it looked like a comp to see who could stuff the most money into "their" machine in the alotted time. The players were mostly of Saga vintage, & they even had rope barriers to keep the Railers back.
How extraordinary, & how clever! Harrahs sure know how to milk Tourists.

In some of the Bars & Coffee Shops here, they have sort of hi-tech coffee tables, which seem to utilise the same "scroll" technology as i-Phones - run your hand across the table, & it opens up new "windows". It has adverts for various Clubs, Bars, Diners, Shows, & they even have a sort of google-Map window, so you know how to get to wherever you wanna go. And you can enlarge, zoom in, zoom out, it's mind-blowingly clever, & lightning-fast, too. Touch the advert, & up it comes, just like a Website.
Tonight, in The Rio, I saw this Portrait Sign, & that was "touch & scroll" too.
Look at this.....

"ENTERTAINMENT" reveals this.
What a clever piece of kit. Useless, but clever. I guess they'll be in Europe soon.
Note the Theatre is actually named "Penn & Teller Theatre". How much must those two guys be earning?

It must have rained this afternoon here in Vegas, though I never saw it.
But I looked out the Hotel window & was shocked to see a "river" had appeared, as if from nowhere. I look down there every day, to watch out for the trains, & that river was never there previously.
On closer inspection, it's what we in the UK would call a stormwater culvert - I don't know what the American terminology is. I have seen various film car-chase scenes shot in these though.
It adds up I suppose, Vegas is almost 100% concrete, so water has to "run-off" somehow. In Gt Britain, it soaks down through grassland into the water table, or aquafers, & we seperate "surface water" ("SW", or rain, really)) from "Foul" water ("F", mainly effluent/sewage). "Flood Plain" is an emotive subject in the UK right now - just ask Red-Dog, that was the excuse the Planners used for so long to block his Planning Application.
An hour later (now), the "river" has gone.

"tikay" I hear, as I exit the "restrooms" at Caesars this afternoon. I almost dread turning round, as I generally have forgotten the name of whoever it is.
The Gentleman below introduces himself, luckily for me, as I cannot quite "place him". "It's Barry (or did he say "Brian"?), from Luton".
"Hi Barry, how's Vegas been". Da de da.
We chat for a while, & I say I look forward to getting back to Luton soon, as I miss the gang down there, & reading Tighty's Luton stories makes me Luton-hungry.
He says he won't be there this Sunday, as he is "playing" a Fishing (Angling?) Competition, & so I ask if he knows Evil Edna - yes, he does - & does he know she once held the UK Carp Fishing record for a female? (No). Evil Edna, by the bye, reminds me of Eddie Charlton, the veteran Australian snookerist, who has led an incredible life as an Olympic athlete & swimmer, & Edna has led (lead?) a quite remarkable life too, in spheres you'd never imagine.
Anyway, I wish him luck in the Fishing Comp, & he tells me it has big Prize-Money - £5,000.
"Where is it" I ask.
"Boddington Reservoir" says he.
"Where's that?" I respond.
"Boddington".
Ah, I see. But he tells me it's 2 hours ftrom Luton, so that's a clue.
"Boddington is stuffed with good-sized Carp, (he opens his arms to demonstrate how big), & it'll take a 500lb bag to win it".
500lbs! That must be a good few reasonable sized carp, which all have to be caught in x hours I guess. Lovely to see how different folks enjoy their hobbies. Wonder if they have angle-shooting & cheating in fishing comp? Or Bad Beat moaners. ("Can't believe the hook came out, it was huge. Sick, sick, sick").
Is "Angling" sea-fishing, & "fishing" fresh-water angling? That reads daft, I know, but you know what I mean.
Sorry for the poor quality pic. He moved.....
The guy you met tony is Barry Earnshaw. Essex wheeler dealer and top bloke. He found a package on line for £900 and was just about to book it when his wife pointed out that it was for 1 day longer than he intended going, so he came out of the screen, re-booked what he wanted to find that the cheapest he could get the package for was £1700!!! He was not a happy man!!!

Ahh, thanks Vince. Next time, I'll know. Brian Eernshaw. Must remember that.
