Don't want to hijack -- but you were talikng about loving the "Coast" -- here are a couple of bad photo's taken in Co Clare

And those pics exactly explain what I mean by the difference between "Seaside" & "Coast". That's exactly the sort of Coast I want to see, & explore. (The bottom pic is spectacular).

But in Scotland, not Ireland.

The West of Ireland is pretty damned amazing, and there are far more sheep than cars on the roads.

Extremely mild this time of year as a rule too, Gulf Stream etc.

Aye.  The it's been much better this month than it was in August.  As a whole though, we've gotten our backsides kicked by the weather this year.  Sigh.

Looks like a lovely spot Tikay.  Quick question?  Do you like the seaside as well, or prefer to be sat near a lake?

These days, because as I've aged (a little) I've come to see, & notice, birdlife, especially ducks, & wildfowl, much more than when I was younger, so I appreciate lakes, rivers (especially), reservoirs, & ponds.

There is a disused opencast mine near me, now a Wildfowl Reserve, crammed with every sort of duck & bird imaginable, & I try & go sit by that at least once a week. I even took Angell there once, but he crapped himself when he saw the Swans. Water also stimulates me in other ways, but let's not go there.

Seaside? Well, we must define "seaside" first. Seaside is Brighton Beach, Southend, Blackpool, da de da. Too horrible to even contemplate.

"Coast" is different, & though there is less wildlife to see - though Gulls are awesomely fascinating - I like rugged coast, with rocks, & breakers, on an incoming tide. Hence my "right round the Scottish coast tour" remains on the itinerary, the Scottish coast is stunning, & draws ever nearer. 

One exception to "rugged Coast" is the beaches on the northern coast of Oahu (Hawaii), which includes the famous Banzai Beach. The waves there are momentous, & it's easy to sit & watch them for hours.

The last pic is of the Cliffs of Moher they stretch for 8km & rise up to 214 metres above the Atlantic Ocean. Awesome --- do Scotland -- but don't neglect The West Coast of Ireland

A great sight - my brother lives about 20 miles from the cliffs and when I'm over we take a trip down, stopping for a bar meal in Kilkee.

The episode of the Frank Skinner show with him on i thought was good stuff from Skinner.He crtitised him for making a joke about someone with down-syndrome and said he had went to far but really laid into him for it.I can't stand chubby brown he just isn't funny.

I want to jot down my "weekend experiences" at Nottingham, Brighton, East Grinstead & Hickstead, but first.......

I found some 'photos, & I'll get Chili to scan them for me, but I'm impatient, & so I've used the "Red" method, & "photo'd the 'photos". Badly, but it'll do for now.

This was my first day at work, just setting off, raincoat slung over shoulder, real cool like. "The Link" was where I lived (in West Acton), & the dog was Susie, who ate all my greens off my dinners for me. She was very healthy.

I'd be 16 or 17, I suppose.

The suit was from C & A (£5).

This was on "my estate", which was the grandly named "GWRHA". (Great Western Railway Housing Association). It was a rule of tenancy that everyone had a privet hedge, & they do "soften" the harsh concrete environment somewhat, though cutting ours was a right pain, & it was my job.

Not likely! The waves were just huge, mountainous, & many-a-surfer lost their life there. The sound the waves made when they broke was deafening. We'd sit on that beach for hours, transfixed - a girl called Barbara Moss & me. Now she was a story......
