they in this case would be the people that bundle everything into one so when you down load ausefull little item you end up with 500 useless spam bots running round your machine
the they you want to have op out and not opt in for organ donations (which i agree with you on) are
the idiots we vote into power every 4 or 5 years
That is the same "They" that make the laws that allow software providers to require you to opt out, while organ donaters have to opt in.

tikay you can change settings on your PC/lappy to make sure that it never loggs you in to msn or yahoo unless you ask to logg in
thats what i do otherwise i get pop ups when i am trying to do something else and it really really annoys me
Thanks Iron.
I looked at my pop-up blocker thingie, & it says "22 pop-ups blocked, pop-ups allowed to xxxx yahoo mail.com (or somesuch).
So I click that, yes, & those frigging boxes will go away?
How did it unclick itself then? It never happened before. Have Yahoo stuffed me?

That 'Chris' bloke on the yahoo must be getting around because the same one popped up when I opened my own yahoo the other day. Just decline the invite and you won't see it again.
Dawn,
Had it ever popped up before? It just appeared, from nowhere.
To "decline" seems almost rude, but I don't want to accept, either, because I don't want to be contacteable 24/7 by the world & his wife.
PS - Oops, just discovered, (as it popped up again), it's Chris Hall - Floppy. Now, he's a pal, & he can ring me, e-Mail me, text me, PM me, or speak to me, whenever. So we need another means to communicate now? Yes? NO!

Didn't know it was him!
In that case, if you decide to accept, send my apologies and tell him to ask again. Won't be so rude next time.
In answer to your question though, yes...it popped up suddenly one day last week. Kept popping up too - until I finally went all rude on him.

And while you are all banging on about invaion of privacy, how about this......
I play a fair bit on
Sky
Poker
, for work reasons, to "live the job" I guess. (It's full-on or nothing with me).
So I was playing a £50 DYM the other week, & I start chilling in the chat box with the other players as you do.
Anbd this bloke says to me "good luck tikay, if you win this, it will be 7 wins in a row".
Well, I don't keep track of these things, but it sounded about right. So I asked him how he knew.
"Sharkscope, mate, I'm looking at your Sharkscope now. It says you have played this many, won that many, lost that many, won this much, your ROI is this, & you are Super-Hot". (Or, "were", I hastily add).
Eh? What? How on EARTH could he know all that? He's spying on me! When did I give Sharkscope permission to nose about in my affairs?
What a weird thing.
So, I decided to take a look, Very cheap. $10 for 200 searches. I can "search" every player I play, all the ins & outs. Which is, I confess, very handy, & very useful.
But I can see players who are "five figures" down, & that troubles me. Should I really be allowed to know that? It's like rifling in someone's wallet, or handbag.
Close the curtains, quick. Someone's peeking.

So, google Street-View. Which seems to me, like just about everything google do, to be awesome. And free. Note thst, "free".
I don't see that as invasive, not one iota. It's pictures of streets. Anyone can take a 'photo of my house, or car, if they so wish. I don't care, frankly.
But all the wet softheads were on telly yesterday, "ooh, invasion of privacy, let's all sue". They wanna start on Yahoo imo, or MSN, not Mr google. I like Mr google.
And of course, after all that findishly clever software, & time spent building an incredible "map", the Media had to do their dumbing doiwn bit.
"Ooh, look, there's a man pissing in the street, there's someone throwing up, & yes, look, there's a car crash".
google must be thinking, sheesh, where do these knobheads in the Media come from, we produce this amazing resource - completely free-to-user - & all they can say is, "ooh, look, a bloke caught having a jimmy riddle".
The Red-Top Editors should all be shot.

Make you're mind up Tony. Google are the biggest and best awsome stuff providers, they are also the people who collect the most data with which to invade your privacy.

And that bloody 'phone you got me is useless.
Anbd you were SUPPOSED to sort me out a new Lappie, months ago, too - what hapened to that? And remember, I want it to be IDENTICAL to the one I have. It's served me well for 8 years, & I don't want some new-fangled heap of poo.
And that Internet Explorer Upgrade you did to my Lappie - GET RID OF IT. It's horrible.
PS - Do some work. And Good Luck tonight.

Good question.
Yes, they are. In my case, just. But I've seen some incredible profits & ROI's for others. (Oh, the joy of Sharkscope, & the power it gives me to nose around).
I actually find them incredibly satisfying, & relaxing. I know, they are not exactly "high-voltage excitement", but (& because?) they are extremely low variance, but I try & nick a few bob here & there, & I'm totally relaxed. But I'm a bit odd in that respect - I only play poker for the pleasure it gives me. And as it costs me nothing, except my spare time.
I do often wonder, how many high-rolling folks at the nosebleed stakes really enjoy -
really
enjoy - Online poker? I see & hear bad beat story after bad beat story, "FML", "I run bad", "this tosser called me with shite" & I do wonder. I'm just not quite sure if, say, 10-tabling is pleasurable, or satisfying. As opposed to simply addictive - as all poker is.
How many times do we read "I just stuck my fist through my lappie screen, some muppet sucked out on me, FML"? And that's what we choose to do for pleasure? It's sado-machowhatsit! I'd be curious to know what they do when they are not enjoying something......
Don't get me wrong - I've been there, seen it, done it. Worse & more than most. But I seem to have landed in a peaceful field, Online & Live, where all is well. Low risk, low returns, but let's not be greedy.
It's an age thing I think.

But that's different - I like google.
An if they do invade my privacy - pick my pocket, as it were - they do it so stealthily & nimbly, that I don't notice.
You can't account for the contradictions in the human mind.
I love google. Deeply.
