I went into town this morning (Ilkeston in Derbyshire), & picked up a flyer for a "turn" at a local night-club.
His name was Pete Tong.
I do hope his Show goes well. Imagine the headlines if it does not.
Go to work, press play on tape.
What's to go wrong?
Whooshed again, I enlisted the aid of google, to discover that Pete Tong is a "Radio 1
". Now I understand your Post. If he's a Radio 1
, as google suggests, how come he's 49? That's not possible, surely? A
at 49? Ridic.
This has to be a level?
Certainly not. In what way?
It is...isn't it? You nearly had me there. Even Daily Mail readers know who Pete Tong is.
Until I saw that flyer today. I'd never heard of him. Scouts Honour.
I stopped listening to Radio 1 in about 1972. You do when you reach early adolescence.
The
's were Tony Blackburn, Dave Lee Travis, Ed Stewart & Co. We thought it was great "in the day", but it was puerile really. I'll never forgive Blacklburn for his habit of talking over intros & outros. We tuned in to listen to music, not him. Or his bloody dog. Woof-woof, ffs.
so what exactly did you mean by "I do hope his Show goes well. Imagine the headlines if it does not."
Kind of suggests you have heard of him.....

He's heard of the rhyming slang, 'It's all gone Pete Tong' but not the person.

I refer the Rt Hon Lady to the Rt Hon Tank's reply.
Pete Tong is CRS for Wrong.
I think that futile attempt at subtle humour failed.
"Pete Tong gets it all Pete Tong".

Lol, no idea! I've never heard of
Pete Tong - thank the Lord, I suspect. My Car Radio has been modified so as not to get tosh & pisch. Radio 4 ftw.

You can know about a sandwich without knowing the Earl of Sandwich.

A joke about his name and a sandwich might not work too well though.

I just watched the first half of that Viva Las Vegas Show.
Can't believe I described Jeff Kimber as "a decent player, though a little on the plump side"?
How did that get through the edit suite?

I was wrong. I just checked. I never said "a little on the plump side". I said "good player, but very plump". Half right, then?
It's 7.35 or 7.40 into Video # 4, here......
