I am told that (I might have the detail of what it is called wrong) that Guideline 3 of the Gaming Commission is being scrapped in September when the new Act comes into force

A consequence of this is that UK licenced venue Poker Tournaments will allow alternates, double top-ups etc

How far each venue goes in embracing the new regime will obviously depend on the policies adopted by each operator

Could casino employees (or players/anyone who knows) help me here?

Am I correct?

What other changes will there be?

Surely there will be some sort of guidelines about what can and can't be done???

ps - I've never been a fan of double addons - if the idea is to increase the prize fund, it actually has the opposite effect.

Late buyins will be allowed upto 2 hours into the comp

this should mean that all comps will start ontimeand will make comps being sold out a thing of the past

also talk about raking and tipping

strange times ahead me thinks

It's a total myth that card rooms are governed by The Gaming Act.

British Casino Association Guidelines (BCA Guidelines) are just that, guidelines, and hold no weight in court. It is not a piece of government legisaltion like The Gaming Act is, which deals with bankers games.

It's a funny situation really. There's so much talk of this and that and blah blah blah. I've heard it all in work. The Vic is at the forefront on the debate with regards to tipping and raking because it's got a strong union membership, plus it's one of the biggest card rooms in Europe. If you play a lot of pots, you're going to be out of pocket. Simple as that. And with regards to tipping, as much as punters may hate the sound of this, it's going to be up to the dealers.

The amount of the tip?

Or are they just not going to deal them cards unless they tip?

Off on a slight tangent, on looking at the Statutory Instrument 2007 No. 1944 (of The Gambling Act 2005) I wonder how these betting  and fees limits will effect "member clubs" like Loose Cannons and the Western etc..? I am no legal expert but wondered if they are caught up in these definitions?

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2007/20071944.htm#n8

If certain premises are deemed illegal, I noticed that there are offences around Advertising them, will this have any effect on Poker Forums in general?

I thought i told you the changes in an APAT thread around September time 2006  Roll Eyes

Seriously though, yes Guideline 3 will be scrapped and alternates will be allowed.

Dealerfromhell, you are correct that they are just guidelines, but a casino operator will follow the guidelines strictly as any breach will mean the GC come down on you like a ton of bricks, and nit pick on everything.

IMO the guidelines were a good thing as in a world of no uniform rules, it was at least basically the same structure, now casinos can go on whatever tangent they feel like.

I've always wondered how Nottingham Gala's cardroom gets away with so many breaches of gaming commission guidelines.

Maybe the gaming commission turns a blind eye in much the same way as Gala's top management Huh?

British Comps start on time? We wish........Fat chance of that, I regret to say. It's scandalouly unprofessional that the great majority of British Cardrooms continually fail to get comps started on time.

As to tipping the dealers, I'm all for it.

I'm all for tipping the dealer too.... There are some who have a face like the proverbial slapped behind and tipping may mean that they have to work a bit on there people skills and have conversations with people rather than the Lurch type response found in some of the dealers whee the standard answer is a "Urhghhhh"..
After saying that the majority of dealers i come across are only too happy to chat when you put a bit of effort in as well ,as long as it doesnt detract from the game...The knock on as well is that soem of the players may have to chat as well ...winners all round!
