Footy bet for the season
«

Any footy bettors got any thoughts on this treble?
Dundee Utd to finish above Gretna at 4/7, the spreads have these two teams 16 points apart and with Gretna playing their home games about 70 miles away in Motherwell I think this looks a strange match to put out.
Barnsley to be relegated at 6/4, of the teams near the bottom last year I cant see Leicester, QPR, Norwich and Coventry having such bad seasons this year, Hull could struggle again but looking at Barnsley's squad it looks very poor to me and tho the promoted teams from the div below might struggle too I cant see Barnsley finishing above the bottom 4 or 5 at best.
Orient to be relegated at 6/4, had a great season last year and just survived and again I just cant see them being anywhere but near the bottom.
Bet pays just over 17/2 for the treble with Laddies, any Barnsley or Orient fans here? any thoughts?
cheers

Gretna will struggle but by backing Dundee U you are siding with Craig Levein, never that tempting!!
Barnsley agreed, ask Sheriff Fatman for the inside goss a big Barnsley fan....I think Leicester at 16/1 are a good E/W bet and far better value than a weakened WBA, and the likes of Charlton at the top of the betting
Orient a good bet to struggle too
I'd rather the double than the treble here...leaving out Gretna, who at least have a money bags chairman to pull some rabbits out of hats if need be

cheers Tighty, Craig Levein has had a strange career path hasnt he, looked great at Hearts and looked awful at Leicester....tho signing a Scottish goalie and loads of other mediocre players from Scotland cant have helped.

6/4 on barnsley looks good value to me, they had easily the worst defence in the division last year and were extremely poor when we (Norwich) played against them home and away last year.

A pity about Leeds' 15 point deduction, thats gonna alter the relegation prices somewhat

A good start for the Dundee Utd bet , pity about the Leeds deduction but still a good looking bet.

Went and saw God (AKA Robbie Fowler) make his debut for Cardiff City in a friendly yesterday. He only lasted 25 mins before going off, much to the disappointment of a large crowd, most of whom i suspect, turned up just to watch him.
Cardiff look a good team on paper with Joe Ledley and Trevor Sinclair, but they have no pace whatsoever within the team, and look a mid table team at best.

I quite like the fact that we're being disregarded by the bookies this season. Everywhere I read we're dead certs for 24th place when I actually think we're better placed than we were at the start of last season.
Our squad has been overhauled in the summer. We've brought 8 players in so far and got rid of a few who weren't playing regularly last season, including Nardiello who was frustratingly inconsistent. Several of the new signings are foreign imports so are 'unknown quantities' in the eyes of the bookies but pre-season displays suggest they'll do OK. Rob Kozluk and Andy Johnson will add a bit of much-needed experience and Rohan Ricketts on a free transfer looks to be a good bit of business too. Best of all, we've got Nyatanga back from Derby, which is a fabulous signing. He makes a big difference to our central defence and has a great future ahead of him so having him on our books again is a real coup.
Overall, we look to be stronger than we were last season and I think there is enough mediocrity in this division for us to avoid relegation more comfortably than we did last season. I feel much more optimistic about our chances this year than I did 12 months ago.

We were shocking at Oakwell and we played most of the Carrow Road game with 10 men so Norwich fans certainly saw us at our worst last season. We've made big changes to the defence in the summer so hopefully there'll be less of the shocking ineptitude this time around.
