Just today.  Actually a picture of Yad vashem. In memory of those killed in the holocaust. Without doubt the most moving place I have ever been. Both sets of my grandparents were refugees from eastern europe and had to leave behind several members of their respective families, and you know how large families were in those days. I also have a number of relatives who survived both the Pogrom and the Holocaust. Try talking to someone with a number tattooed on their arm about the war. I first visited Yad vashem as a cocky know-it all teenager until my maternal grandmother pointed out people who had lived in her village in Poland. It dawned on me then how fragile life can be given certain circumstances. People who say we should forget the Holocaust and move on should be made to stand at yad vashem and tell the people there. Apologies for soap box mode. |
