The Queens Park Rangers Supporters Trust say they would welcome news of a takeover by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

A report on Friday linked Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, who is in charge of the Renault F1 team, with a bid for the Championship club and Trust Co-ordinator Tracy Stent believes this would be "good news" as high-profile investment is needed to secure QPR's future.

Rangers took out a £10million loan from the Panama-based ABC Corporation to help them out of administration five years ago, an arrangement which has proved restrictive ever since.

She said: "If someone came in with a large amount of money, they would be saving the club.

"The club needs to find someone to re-finance the structure of the ABC loan. It is imperative that something is done about this.

"If these names are being mentioned, it can only be good news."

I really hope there is some truth in this

Yep it seems like Ecclestone is more interested in Arsenal, & Flavio Briatore may be our only hope. That is if anyone can understand his incomprehensible use of english!!

OK, so the F1 guys have made a £14m offer - £1m for the club plus covering £13m of debt.

The pair will also loan the club £5m - partly to buy new players.

Eh?

Isn't this exactly how we got into the current mess - taking on loans from dodgy crooks like Ecclestone legitimate busniessmen? I thought the whole point of buying a football club was that you pumped money into it, as an investment (or plaything). Abramovich didn't 'loan' Chelsea all that money - he would only expect to get that money back if it grew the value of the club when the time comes to sell it. He doesn't have an IOU from Chelsea for £300m in his wallet

Also, if they think a £5m loan will 'get us into the Premier League within the next four years' then they clearly know cock all about football.

I have a bad feeling about this.

I agree Andrew, It does not add up. Eccelestone could clear the debt, its loose change to him.
