McDonalds?
Lol, no. It was one of those little side street restaurants in the west end that do the pre-theatre dinners.

I spent the last couple of days in London with Mrs Red and my youngest girl Bridie, while we were there we had a walk around Harvey Nics. OMG! Is it really possible to manufacture shoes that are £750....EACH? Or for a scone and a tea to cost £14? Or for an ordinary looking jacket to be REDUCED to £1399?
I watched lots of ladies buying stuff, and I watched Mrs Red not buying stuff. I asked her if she envied them and she replied, "No". "They think they need those things, no matter what they buy, they will want more tomorrow" "Tomorrow they will be wanting, I won't"
I bet the cost of manufacturing those shoes is maximum £20, if they are produced in china £2 maximum. The rest of the cost is marketing and mark up which in is min 300%
there is a shop near bond street, went there yesterday - all clothes are cheap cotton sport wear that reminded me of primemark productions, but because the shop's interior, loud music and model lookalikes sales assistance the prices were from mars.
People are weird.

Very cost effective for a one legged man. I wonder if they would make you buy both or if you could just buy the 1?

Erm, dont 1 legged men get shoes for free? I thought that was why they left one shoe outside the shop..!! Suppose it depends on which leg you aint got..!!

I once bought a nice pair of boots from River Island and wore them for 3 months before one of my mates noticed that they were actually different. It caused a bit of a giggle but I thought nothing of it and kept on wearing them.
Another few months later I was back in the same shop buying some more shoes and I jokingly said to the salesman to make sure they were both the same as last time I'd got a mixed pair, he asked me what they were like so I described them and much to my amazement he said he still had the the other two mis-mathced boots.
He brought them out and sure enough... being a bit of a blagger, I said that he should give me them for nothing to make up for the ridicule I had suffered, in the end I got them for a £5.
Back home I now had a dillema though, should I wear a pair of equally worn mismatched boots, or a matching pair with one brand new and one with 6 months wear and tear !!! I elected to wear the mismatched but equally worn sets and was delighted that I'd got a new set of boots for a fiver.
I would like to add that since I started playing poker my powers of observation have imrpoved dramatically, so don't go trying to pull a fast one me at the felt.

I went out with a girl from London for a couple of years who was into this kind of thing. Her dad was a multimillionaire but new money, so kind of expressed it by buying ultralavish gifts for the kids. I can't remember not seeing her in designer kit. She got round to talking of marriage, and you know that you're gonna be the one buying her 750 quid shoes ('I'll get you the left one for Xmas').
Er. No way Jose.
I love meeting people with this kind of stuff, wearing 5000 pound suits etc. Saves me having to work out the hard way that they're a stupid ****. I mean.....who are they trying to impress?
Women that see other women in ultra expensive gear don't go 'oh she looks nice', they just want to kill the bitch. Admit it, girls....

i don't understand this, why is someone stupid cos they can afford a nice suit. if they're going into debt to buy it then yeah prob, but there are lots of rich people out there.
I expect there are millions of people in the world who would be "WTF £30 for a meal! I could feed my family for 2 months with that" which shows what a sick unfair world we live in in some respects, but if millionaires wanna spend £750 on a shoe then what's the problem? they have earnt their money they can spend it how they wish.

I bought a nice shirt for £15 the other week. That should do me for another 6 months.

What are they trying to achieve by spending 5 grand on a suit that looks no better and feels no better than a suit a tenth of that price?
-"People will recognise it as expensive and think more of them....."
In fact people don't, they just think "Oh he's got an expensive suit"
-"See how good it looks, how well it fits"
In fact a suit at 500 quid looks just as good and can be made to fit just as well.
=Stupid in my book. If he has the money, who am I to stop him from spending it stupidly? But I do know he has made a specific choice to spend his money like this, and not to spend it *reasonably*, and that makes him stupid in my book.
Lots of these very rich, lavishly dressed people could also be 'Sun' readers for all we know.
