this has been on my mind since the laddies 10k sunday.
nothing particularly unique about it but i would appreciate some feedback for learning purposes.
I called a smallish raise with K10 off, flop comes 10 xx with 2 hearts.
original raiser goes allin, i immediately put him on the nut flush draw and so because i am ahead i call.
turns out i'm right and he hits, pretty much knocking me out (300ish left).
the question is.....if you were in this position "knowing" you were against the flush draw do you call or fold?

really depends on the stacks etc but it looks early in a comp so i am likely to try and double up with a call knowing i am a 6/4 favourite

Ironside is right, sad to say, it depends on the stacks.

We know he has at LEAST 12 outs, maybe 15 if his kicker is J or Q.

Unless the pot is already quite big i dont like calling here.

you have to call. unfortunately this is one of the catch 22's of poker. Call knowing it will only take one card to beat you and being happy about it is very difficult.

This is a very marginal decision but I would say fold , it isn't about who is ahead now but who is likley to be ahead at the end and what your situation would be if you lose .  There are times when you are going to be happy to take this gamble ( either way) but it depends so much on current stack and blinds. I try to stay away from these situations early doors but if deeper stacked later on i may take the risk to take a player out or if short i will take the chance to double through . If i have an average stack and am ok I will look for better opportunities.

just my thoughts

I would call, but hate it....I suppose the maxim is you are in great shape if you win and there's always another comp if you don't

Over the long run (whoever knows how long that is) you win by calling here

Tighty in a cash game its a no brainer.

But look at an extreme tournament example. Last 10 on a final table, you have 1m, other guy has 1.1m rest have 1000, blinds 5k-10k. Then clearly its an incorrect call even with top set! (assuming standard payouts)

Of course over times its a +EV in terms of TC, but not in terms of CASH!

These examples are not enough information untill we know our stack av stack his stack, how many left how many paid etc.

i wasn't really considering chip amounts, how many left etc. just is it a call or fold?
i have to say i'd probably call EVERY time, just wanted to know if that's a bad policy or not?
Dan, you going to walsall NOW?
