It fills me with joy to see the kind of quality that we have on the bench this season, illustrated by tonight's array:

Fabianski, Diarra, Gilberto Silva, Eduardo da Silva, Denilson, and Walcott.

And that is without mad Jens and "captain" Gallas

PS

My Prayers for a top class right full-back have been answered; Bacary Sagna must be the best RB in the whole wide world.

how is that Clichey dude coming along? I saw him a couple seasons ago and he looked like he could be better then cole/Carlos and pretty much any other left back.

Gael Clichy seems to get better with every game, far stronger in the tackle than Cole ever was and improving defensively.

His final delivery needs some work imo, but if I tell you that Cole has not been missed at all that should speak volumes.

yeah thats about what i thought, he seemed from my limited observations to have gone off the boil last season, but he really did/does? look like a fantastic player.

how much is henry missed? will walcott ever fulfil his potential?

The minute I saw Clichy I knew that he would either have to leave or Arsenal would sell Cole

The guy is class.

Shame Commoli spotted him for them.

We have Bale though...

Great shout Nem, it was a very simalar situation to when Cole was coming through and Silvinho was left back. Wenger made the right decision then and seems to have made the right decision this time. We needed a class Centre Half more than we needed Cole, unfortunatley Gallas has been injured for long spells.

Arsenal look quality this season. No doubt.

However I'm not sure the centre-half problem has been fixed long term. I have no faith in Sendemoff, Gallas has been injured a lot and/or way short of his best. Toure is quality though.

If you guys had a young Adams/Keown/Campbell type monster you'd be laughing.

Can Sagna play there?

I think many are too harsh on Senderos, I still have a deal of confidence in him.

And we'll have a more experienced Djourou coming back in January, who has everything to become a great centre half.

I think maybe Sagna could play centre half at a pinch, he can certainly play on the left, but he is some right back.

I agree with all you said b4 karib, but senderos is not good enough for this Arsenal team. By a long way. Toure is sheer class but needs a decent partner, im still not fully convinced Gallas has his heart with Arsenal.

And Henry leaving was a gd thing it seems, lesser stars now shine more brightly.

Sorry Ralph, I have to agree with the others Senderos is simply not good enough. He may have some good games here and there but thats not enough if we are going to do what we want to do. I do agree with you about Djourou though. I was quite surprised when I learned that we were letting him go out on loan as I felt he was better than Sendeos last season when he played but it is clear what Wenger was thinking now.

Baron, I do agree that the Centre Half situation is not completely solved and who wouldnt want another Adams or Keown there. Gallas, I feel will prove to be a good player. Like Alex said last year his heart didnt seem to be in it but I think this year he will be more commited, I cant beleive Wenger would make him captain if Wenger thought he was not commited. Toure though is class and along with Fabregas is one of the 1st players on the team sheet.

Sagna, I beleive, can play anywhere along the back although his best postion is at RB. I'm not a big fan of players playing in different postions. Look at Gary Neville, great RB but only an average CB, Gallas great CB average LB and so on.

its been a great start to the season but we shouldnt get too carried away as long way to go - and there will be times when our forwards struggle a little.

I have said it plenty of times before but in an ideal world i would love another striker and  wide player.  Diaby last nite was an embarrasement at left wing.  He is a great CM and should be picked to play there.  Unfortunately Rosicky is too injury prone so we do need back up on the wing.  Too many central players and not ough wide players (although Eduardo could play there and Theo sometimes does).

Ideally i would have loved to have seen Martins and Ribery in the summer - but thats not the Wenger way and who am i to knock him.

Still it really is such a joy to watch - i find it hard to believe that in 1993 and 1994 i did not miss a single game home away or Europe - how the hell did i watch such crap football nder Graham!!  Spose if you are winning it almost doesnt matter.

Sagna is absolutely quality.  So impressed by him.  When we siged him i was a bit gutted for Hoyte.  But these two players are miles apart in ability.

Gallas is committed and i think he great leader for a youngish squad - just look at him on the crossbar challenge.  Senderos is unfortunately not quite good enough.  Lacks confidence, ball watches a lot and needs a lot of games to get a run going.

Oh also need a keeper - Almunia is an accident waiting to happen.  he does 80% right but he is not good enough.  Does things for the cameras.  and Lehmann is unfortunately on the downcurve in terms of form.

And more importantly - 60,000 fans last nite and a sell out next week for a reserve outing in the carling cp which is not covered by our season tickets.

Some good points there Triple X, most of which I agree with.

Senderos, I feel, just needs a few games under his belt to regain his confidence, if he gets that he'll be fine. Remember how well he played en route to the CL final, he was keeping a fully fit Campbell out of the side !

Almunia, I have to agree is as you say "an accident waiting to happen". Let's hope that the "accident" is not a crucial one. The last time mad jens was dropped for a few games he came back in and played out of his skin culminating in his winning the FA cup final virtually single-handedly. Let's hope for a repeat of that. I'm also looking forward to getting my first proper look at Fabianski this Tuesday.

As for Sagna, wow Arsene's gone and unearthed another gem. Simply amazing.

I wish you well over the fast.
