Why hate the short stacks?
«

Why is it that almost all the NL cash game players hate the shorties so much? Surely it is better to play at a full table than a half empty one, isn't it?
I am not a big gun cash player and generally play at the scumbag limits, so I have no real understanding of this.
My friend hates them and calls them robots with no feel, all the big name cash players complain about them as well
why?

its not so easy to pelt them with stones and rotten fruit online thats why
Live, casinos have areas in their car-parks especially set aside. Customer service has come a long way.

if they are good, they have an intrinsic mathematical edge because most adept cash game players have such a wide opening range they can exploit that by shoving in, and because of this they ruin the flow of the game somewhat.
I do think that the hatred is overboard somewhat, and a lot of shortstackers come in and lose a couple buyins and then keep on chunkin off chips trying to get even and end up playin terribly. most of the 2p2'ers just want tailor made conditions that are best for them and dont give a crap about the overall poker economy. They begged FTP for deep tables so they could all show the world how great they are, and because the fishies dont sit there the action is pretty much dead all the time, so their hatred comes from the fact that they cant have 100% optimal conditions for themselves 100% of the time.

They are a combination of lots of other things poker players don't like. They push all in / reraise a lot pre flop and they hit and run, most don't like players like this that much even if they aren't short stacks.
Then when you have a good hand they push in and scare the deeper stacks off. When you do beat them you win less becasue you could have won more from a deep stack. And what seems like a lot of the time, they suck out with their drawing hand as their short stack gives them good pot odds and they scoop a sizable side pot when you could have had a massive pot and now have meagre winnings for that hand.

You know the guy that is ranked number 1 on P5s seldom uses maths while playing. This is probably rare, but it obviously works for him.
This interview talks about his lack of maths when playing

i dont mind short stacks at all.
those who buy i light are particularly welcome. usually they are looking for quick double ups so as long as you adjust your play you can take there dough.
sure sometimes they get lucky. sometimes they even have a hand but thats the game. i think those who dislike them should perhaps look at their own game
and think about their ability to adjust rather than complain.

i hate short stacks for two main reasons. I would rather have someone with a full buy in, in their seat because i would want full value if we got into a big hand, i would also like to be able to have fold equity if im going to try a bluff or a float.
Secondly a short stack could ruin your table image pretty easily. If you try and snap off a button raiser from small blind and the shorty commits with AT, you have to table your rags, and your image goes in one fell swoop.
