Hello all,
i have downloaded partygammon, and am playing v.low stakes, i learnt to play as a kid but havent played for money/against anybody good all my life. Im doing ok, not winning anything really and wondered if anybody knows of a site that gives good advice or a decent book i can pick up!?

I am working my way through the Ladbrokes tutorials. These are really good for me as I hate reading strategy books for backgammon, poker , etc. I would love to be able to understand what they are on about, but books like Harrington make my head hurt. I prefer watching things than reading about them, the Ladbrokes tutorials are really good

Magriel is the backgammon bible. (by which I don't mean almost entirely fictitious)
I have it but haven't read it. looks like there's not a lot of laughs in it

read backgammo for winners by bill robertie..
then play a lot. concentrating on using doubling cube correctly.
download gnu backgammon...(google it) its free and as good as any of the programmes u need to pay for.
beware some people use this while playing, theres not a lot u can do except play with fast clocks.
o and play the ladbrokes freerolls for some easy $$$$$

I was just looking at these. Perhaps soon. I also have play 65, is this the same software as gammon empire? Is Play 65 free to play? I haven't actually entered any games there yet. Sadly Ladbrokes have no play money games, well they do but they are always empty

play 65 and gammon empire use the same software. both have play and money tables.
the problem is its mainly 1 game.
if u, or indeed anyone, fancies a game on laddies for fun. let me know.
u could even help me keep my rating down....lol

i dont mean for money sark
i mean we could play a long game as its very hard to find games more than 1 point either free or low stakes.
ive more or less stopped playing on line since i discovered how easy it is to cheat. i ma playing at a club now tho and doing ok

I play on Play65 (play money only), if any one fancies a game... just a beginner with a rating of 1571 (whatever that means?).

I liked the youtube vid Sark, thanks!
It's easy to cheat online as the backgammon programs available are very good (unlike poker, there are no unknowns) and people can just use them to plot their moves.
