Only have one all rounder in the side pulling 95k.

Then 2 ordinary bats and 2 poors. Hardly batting deep!

The all rounder is pretty nice though!

Pulled in just short of 88k.. am sure it would be higher if I played my good spinner ( who can't bat to save his life)

League match man with 2nd team despite being out rated by several thousand!

It did play into my hands a little by him having a spinners pitch - top spinners out today, top seamers out in the cup on Sunday.

Looks like we've got a good showing in the cup this season - I see 3 of us left in the last 32 - Asa, Donkey and my bunch of reprobates.

TBH I've found it quite tricky juggling all 4 balls and finances dictate a mid season sale at Pony Park.

So I won't cry too much in the likely event of defeat on Sunday.

How do you guys stay ahead financially? I invest quite a lot in my academies and survive by selling players, but I'm not sure this is sustainable without parting with prize assets as my wage bill rises. It might work out okay, but there does not seem to be that much money sloshing round.

This Week

Income                            Expenses

Gate Takings:   $19,888    Ground Maintenance:   $10,000
Sponsorship:   $65,630    Player Wages:         $100,114
Prizemoney:   $0            Academies:                  $136,000
Player Sales :   $127,627    Player Purchases :   $0
Player Sales:   $0            Player Purchases :   $0
                                    Transfer Listing Fees:   $3,000

Weekly Income:   $213,145    Weekly Expenses:   $249,114

Weekly Balance:   -$35,969    Overall Balance:          $166,498

Last Week

Income                          Expenses
Gate Takings:   $114,393    Ground Maintenance:   $8,000
Sponsorship:   $65,630    Player Wages:          $99,392
Prizemoney:   $0            Academies:            $136,000
Player Sales:   $0           Player Purchases:           $0
                             Transfer Listing Fees:   $0

Weekly Income:   $180,023    Weekly Expenses:   $243,392

Weekly Balance:   -$63,369    Overall Balance:   $202,467

My academies are at lavish/luxurious and my investment is the minimum required to keep them improving. The sale of Seymour kept me going through last season but the academy investment has increased a lot and I have no desire to keep selling my best players. I may well get by just selling my not quite so good players, but I'm just not sure if my business model is sound...

And I thought I spent a lot on my academies!!

I find superior acadmies are more than adequate, as the difference it makes up the next level is negligible. Saying that, on a good week, like last week, I broke even ( if it weren't for me expanding my stadium to 16k!)

What I did in terms of money is assess my squad in terms of age and quality.. ie batting wise the oldest I had was Reid at 25, meaning I could sell a youngster or 2 and not lose out

13 Oct 2008    Sold    Curtis Cula-Reid    The Gangsta's    $750,000
12 Oct 2008    Sold    Bruce Dickinson    The Highlanders    $1,200,000

Dickinson, at the time, was the 2nd highest skilled bowler I had behind Pamenter, but his secondaries were pretty low in comparison to another, younger bowler.

Oh, and play your best youths in the senior side, and whatever's left, put in the youths. Means you may lose a few more youth games, but the added experience will come in invaluable at a later date ( seeing how experience seems to be mega important in this game)

Check out Andrew Willcocks

I pretty much operate in the way you describe, I have plenty of valuable players so there's no danger of going skint, It's just I'd prefer to keep as many as possible!

I suppose I'm just paying the price for not really giving the game enough attention in the first couple of seasons...

must say I didn't until past halfway in the 1st season.. just wonder how many of my 20yo's would be even better!!

Wilcocks is a very nice player, esp with being an LFM.. won't get in my 1st team, and would JUST sneak into my 2nd...
