The legend that is Sir Mickey Wernick of Wernickville is now frequenting the rail. He clashed in a battle of the generations encounter with Tronde Eidsvig, the young whizkid check-raising Mickey's 2.5k bet on a two spades Flop to 7.5k. Mickey called the extra 5k before calling again when Tronde pushed all-in for his remaining chips on the Turn.

"I need a King," requested Mickey politely as he was shown .

But with Mickey's two hearts is bad shape, drawing to just the one out apparently, no miracle was granted leaving him to exit stage left with a forced smile.

"It was either a set or nothing," concluded The Worm.

-----------

I spotted Marty Smyth pacing up the other side of the cardroom with a face as long a 4-lane motorway. Call me pyschic, but I think he might be out..

-----------

Thomas Kretschmer is nearly all but out, his seemingly formidable stack being demolished by Irishman Phillip Hardy in what was a 40k plus pot. I didn't catch how the hand panned out, but the board read three diamonds and it was 7k more to Thomas, who eventually called only to be shown .

It is safe to say that today's pace is slightly faster than yesterday's.  On table Mallu, I arrived to see a board, 2 players standing up and a mountain of chips over the line for both players.  Alli's opponoent was France's Ludovic Lacay.  The board read:

Alli Mallu    Two Diamonds
Ludovic

There was chaos as both players tried to work out who covered who, and it looked like both the chip leaders tangled in this pot.  Ludvic had 46,750 and Alli had 45,000 so Ludovic took the whole lot for a pot worth well over 90,000!!

I knabbed Ali on his way out and he said that the money went in when the 7 paired on the turn, little did Ali know the monster that Ludvic was holding!  Wow, take a bow Mr Lacay, you are chip leader by a grand mile and you were definately not "Mallued."

Mischievous Liverpudlian Joey Lovelady is milling around the rail, his tournament coming to a demise either just after, or just before the break.

"I was ahead, you can report that," he says surprised. "I had K-Q on an Ace high Flop. Chips went in on the Turn when it came a King, but he had a pair and a flush draw with T-7 and hit a heart."

The lad's still smiling though.

-------------

My Scrabble nemesis Jeff Kimber has doubled up courtesy of recent EPT winner Julian Thew. It was a simple affair in the end, Jeff's push on a Flop being called by Yoyo. American Ziad Kaady in the next seat seemed tortured by the decision, but he eventually through his cards away reluctantly. Meanwhile, it was on their backs times for Jeff, the World Heads Up Champ not 100% confident that his was ahead, but he had no reason to worry as Julian showed . Actually, what am I saying, it's Julian, of course he needs to be worried! However, even though Thewy was favourite (cough) to win the hand, Jeff's kicker was somehow good enough come the and JD Turn and River. Yoyo down to 10k. Kaady meanwhile rues folding what would have been a winning straight.

Kevin O'Connell has been eliminated.  All the money went in on a flop of

Kevin
Matey

on the turn gave the Dusk till Dawner more options, but a blank river sent him packing.

-----------

Julian Thew is now biting down on the bitter taste of dust, his check-raise all-in with A-K on a 9-8-J Flop being called by T-8. A Five Turn and Three River was no good and the Yoyo string has finally snapped.

Back in the real world, Nicolas Levi has just doubled up through Paul Leckey hitting a full house with  putting Levi up to 21,000 and Leckey down to 8,200.

Players: 84 of 132
Blinds: 150/300 (25)
Average Stack: 23,600

Current chip leaders:

(1) Ludovic Lacay -- 93,350
(2) Philip Hardy -- 59,000
(3) Simon Munoz -- 60,200
(4) Ash Hussain -- 47,500
(5) Runar Runarsson -- 43,400

Patrick Bruel and Roy Brindley are missing presumed lost.

Jeff Kimber is OUT. After climbing from 2,500 back up to 16,500, he then ran Queens into Aces for a sad swan song. However, he seems to be ruing a bluff gone wrong from earlier: "I bluffed off most of my stack against a numpty. He had three queens, but should have folded. Even Kukuwap next to me said I must have a full house, but I just mucked and was down to 5k."

"My table was so soft too," he added.

Right, we reached 15 mins short of the last level of the night (7) and they stopped the clock and every table now plays 7 hands to stop any slowing up nonsense.  After this we shall have a full list of chip counts and players for the end of day, hopefully not too long afterwards.

and some last minute counts from me, I picked as many as I could off the bags;

Michael Martin  57,950
Ludovic Lacay  85,225
Ash Hussain  46,425
Chris Smith  16,625
Martin Green  9,500
Annette Obrestad  34,925
Ian Cox  48,250
Katja Thater  15,650
Tony Cascarino  30,600
Surinder Sunar  27,250
Chris Bush  22,225

There were 76 players left at the point of the last 7 hands so that number may change but with 48 from Day 1, all the chaps and chapettes meet up again at 2pm tomorrow for more shenanigans.

They start at Level 8
300/600  75 ante.
